Ryan was very helpful in getting our newly adopted dog to not be aggressive with our cats. He taught us a useful exercise to help our dog and cats be calm around each other. We saw immediate results! I would definitely hire Ryan again as issues arise with my dog.
It's easy to get overwhelmed when your dog starts demonstrating reactivity - family, friends, and strangers can all be extremely willing to tell you what you should be doing - and if you, like me, have a dog who was an absolute love at home and then a lunging fang-face when out with others, it's easy to start making your world small.
Working with Ryan gave me the tools and confidence I needed to support my puppy as she learns the world is safe and fun. He met us where we were - physically and behaviorally - and demonstrated how to start with a foundation and then build upon that. He tailored the training sessions for her and drafted a detailed training plan for me. We were able to meet at home to deal with an immediate need and then continued a series of training sessions out and about.
I highly recommend working with Ryan.
Ryan Lee is incredible when it comes to dog training. He has the perfect energy combined with excellent dog behavior knowledge and experience. He helped transform my puppy and
set me up for success as a responsible dog owner. He is also great with older dogs.
I can't recommend him highly enough.
Ryan is simply amazing and has a true talent. Our dog was pulling and reactive to dogs. He doesn’t pull anymore and is on the road to reacting appropriately when he comes across other dogs. These were things I didn’t think were possible. He really has insight into what dogs are feeling and what their instincts are. He gives clear instructions on how the owner should change their training technique. Reasonably priced and worth every penny! Ryan is wonderful!
I met Ryan when I volunteered at the Sonoma Humane Society. He was revered by volunteers and staff because of his vast knowledge of dogs and his calm demeanor. Ryan is a gifted dog trainer and dog behaviorist who leads with compassion, kindness, patience and a truly humane approach. He explains our goals for each session and sometimes demonstrates what that looks like. He fully invests in his clients and their dogs and we are lucky to have Ryan train our dog Cooper. Cooper loves Ryan. Cooper no longer pulls on the leash, taking me down, and he's learned to hang with other dogs. We're currently working on Cooper's separation anxiety and I have no doubt that with Ryan at the helm we will be successful.
Ryan is a great trainer and behavioralist! He worked with us and our highly reactive rescue dog and was able to show us how to read his body language and our surroundings, as well as how to respond to those signals. He also went out of his way to connect us with a sitter, and worked on introductions over multiple session, so that now we are able to go out of town with peace of mind. Would highly recommend!
Let all the 5-star ratings be your sign that Ryan is the real deal.
We found Ryan during a really difficult time. Our dog, Spike, is a highly reactive rescue, and we were navigating some really challenging behaviors. We were overwhelmed, isolated, and felt like we were running out of options. Ryan immediately brought reassurance, validation, and a sense that we weren’t alone in this anymore, which meant more than I can fully put into words. Because of his support and guidance, we now feel so much more hopeful about our future together with Spike.
Ryan is incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful in how he works. He was very intentional about minimizing stress for Spike, prioritizing his comfort, trust, and emotional state. That approach felt very different from other trainers we spoke with. He took the time to meet us in multiple environments - our home, the park, and on our walk loop - so he could fully understand both Spike and the dynamics at play. He explained why behaviors were happening, which helped us understand our dog better and gave us the language to talk about it. He offered multiple approaches and ideas, recognizing there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and tailored everything to what actually works for our specific situation. He also connected us with additional resources that have been incredibly valuable.
We feel so grateful to have Ryan as part of our support system. His guidance stays with us even when he’s not there. We often find ourselves thinking back to what he’s taught us when we’re out with Spike. I’ve already recommended him to others and will continue to do so without hesitation. If you’re looking for a compassionate, thoughtful, and highly effective trainer, Ryan is truly one of a kind.
As a mama of a reactive little fur baby, I have been on quite a journey to learning how best to care for my dog with his particular temperament. Ryan brought clarity and compassion and very direct support for us to feel more at ease and more cohesion as a family. We are all better off having spent some time in Ryan’s care.
I am pleased to leave a review for Ryan Lee. He is an amazing trainer. To be honest, an effective trainer needs to understand challenges and observe the pet parent and the pet. He needs to communicate what is happening with the pet and how they are feeling as well as reactions they may have. Ryan successfully masters all of these areas.
Working with Ryan as a mentor has made such a difference with Mochi. Now I have the tools needed to address different responses my dog may have to incidents that may make him apprehensive. He is very intelligent but can be reactive as he is always alert and full of energy. I now have strategies to help address his needs and keep him calmer. This means less reactivity and more pleasant interactions.
Our plan is to be able to take Mochi wherever we go. This requires a high level of training and with Ryan's guidance I feel this goal will achieved. Working with Ryan is very helpful, insightful and has given me the confidence I need to help Mochi become a well behaved dog.
Ryan is a fantastic dog trainer! He is loved and respected by everyone who works with him at the shelter where I volunteer. I feel very fortunate to have been learning about dog training and behavior from Ryan for several years now. He brings a calm and understanding approach to shelter dogs, being especially helpful in determining what drives challenging behavior in the dogs that display it, and providing training and activities for them so that they are more comfortable at the shelter, and so they become available to a broader range of potential adopters. He provided a great deal of training and support to me and our foster pup who was incredibly shy. Ryan came to our home numerous times to work with us, helping her become more confident, and leading to her adoption into a very loving family with whom she is now thriving. He is currently helping us navigate training our new pup, providing a lot of insight into why she does the things she does, and how to help her grow into a settled, happy dog. He explains and demonstrates things in a way that I understand, and helps us zero-in on what is most important at each stage of her development. Ryan is what we need more of in the dog training world, and I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn from a caring, knowledgeable, effective trainer.
