Definitely thought the food was delicious and bartenders were awesome! But unfortunately Chuck the coordinator was awful, and really negatively impacted the wedding. It started on rehearsal day when he gave the bride a hard time when she was concerned about the seating plan and not being able to see her family from where she was standing during the ceremony. Then he told her to empty out half of the rose petals from the flowers girls basket cause he didn’t want to have to pick them up… please note it was a small child size basket. The day of the wedding he wouldn’t let the groom get a beer 30 min before the ceremony. When the cornhole boards weren’t set up during cocktail hour, I started to bring them up to the deck for set up, and he stopped me and told me that “it’s weird I would want them there”. He then scolded the father of the bride during dinner like he was a child, for pouring his own wine at the table. He wouldn’t pour champagne in my husbands glass when he held it up for him, repeating that he can reach where it was originally. Then he didn’t announce last call and wouldn’t serve a glass of wine to the bride 20 min before the venue reservation was over. Policies are important of course, but they need to be communicated beforehand, which Chuck did not. He was aggressive and condescending to many wedding guests. Many comments were unnecessary and stubborn and it was clear he did not care about creating an enjoyable experience during the wedding.

The situations you described involved both venue and liquor-license policies, including serving alcohol only during the contracted bar hours and not placing self-serve wine on tables. Our team initially explained these rules politely, but when requests continued, staff had to enforce them more firmly. Further, rose petals are not allowed at the venue, but we tried to accommodate the request and committed to clean them up to avoid the client being charged a fee. That said, we understand that how policies are communicated matters, and we’re sorry the experience felt upsetting. We’ll review your feedback with our team.
We went with abbey after a recommendation from a friend and are so happy that we did. Our wedding coordinator, David, was amazing. He put us at ease with his calm and collected approach to the day. We also enjoyed working with Will and Megan at our food tasting, they were so friendly and we felt like they really listened. We got many compliments on the food and loved working with the bakery for the dessert. We also had an awesome experience with our photographer, Chris. He’s with you for all the most important parts of the day so it’s important you vibe, and he was experienced and great to be around. Our only constructive feedback, which did not ruin our day, is related to the DJ group. While we enjoyed our dance party in the end, and the DJ was a lovely guy, we felt disappointed that the DJ company only had inexperienced wedding DJs to offer us 3 weeks before our event. We did feel like it could have been more seamless with someone who’d done more weddings similar to ours. Despite that, we would still wholeheartedly recommend abbey. Special shoutouts to our photobooth attendant who was lovely and super helpful managing the booth, and the catering staff who always found us and made sure we got to sample the appetizers!

We had an incredible experience with Abbey Catering and could not have been happier with our decision to have them be part of our wedding day.
From the very beginning, Troy Sand made us feel confident in choosing Abbey. He was knowledgeable, personable, and helped us feel reassured that we were making the right decision for our wedding.
One of the things we especially loved about Abbey was their all-inclusive wedding packages. Having so many important elements coordinated through one team made the planning process significantly easier and gave us peace of mind. Their packages included florals, food, dessert, DJ, decorations, an assigned wedding coordinator, and even options for wedding photography and an officiant (although we selected our own for these 2 categories). It was wonderful having everything thoughtfully organized in one place rather than having to discover and coordinate numerous vendors separately.
Our wedding coordinator, Chuck Ferrante, was fantastic throughout the process. He was extremely detailed, reliable, and had excellent communication throughout the entire planning process. We always felt informed, supported, and confident that every detail was being taken care of. Having someone as organized and dependable as Chuck made the entire experience so much less stressful.
On our wedding day, the entire Abbey team helped everything come together beautifully. The food was delicious, the setup and decorations were gorgeous, and the service was professional and seamless. Most importantly, they allowed us to relax, celebrate, and truly enjoy our wedding with our family and friends.

The most perfect wedding day ever! Thank you to Abbey Catering and especially to Petr for making our day so perfect. The entire process was incredibly seamless- from the tastings, to the rentals to the day of. We had our wedding at the Martin Johnson House and they were extremely familiar with it! The florals were stunning, and we got many compliments on our DJ (Brian A). Our food was a big hit (especially the apps, and for entree we did striploin + salmon dual entree). But the star of the show was truly Petr, he helped guide us every step of the way and he was so incredibly leaned-in and present, anticipating everything the day-of! Thank you AC Team! xo

We had such a great experience overall! The planning process leading up to our wedding was incredibly smooth. Derek was very helpful throughout the planning process and Will was also amazing to work with and made us feel confident going into the weekend.
The vendors they provided were truly incredible. DJ Brian was amazing and kept everyone on the dance floor, and Deb, our photographer, was absolutely wonderful. The servers and bartenders were phenomenal and went above and beyond for us and our guests all night.
The food was DELICIOUS and we had so many guests tell us how much they loved it. The desserts from Sugar Bear were also incredible and such a hit.
There are so many moving pieces that go into a wedding and we’re really grateful for all of the people who worked behind the scenes to make ours so special. We especially cannot say enough good things about the vendors and staff who showed up for us and made the day so much fun. Thank you for helping us create a weekend we’ll never forget! 🤍

The Abbey Catering & Event Company was AMAZING! We had our wedding reception at the Martin Johnson House on 9/12/2026. Huge shout-out to David Robertson, our coordinator, who was truly the best. From start to finish, the Abbey was support helpful and informed about the wedding planning process. I found that to be super helpful as it was my first time planning a wedding! Troy was up to date with all the prices and had great knowledge of the venue! Thank you to Leslie, our event captain, who took the time to make sure we were well feed!! I found the all in 1 catering option to be very benifical. I loved that the Abbey had cotacts for Photographer, DJ, Cake, Florist, & more. All of our vendors through the Abbey were supper helpful and had the best vibes. Our photographer was Chris Wood from SD Photo Studio who captured our wedding perfectly. Our DJ was DJ Andrew Shaba from Wedding Entertainment collective and he kept the dance floor packed the entire night. Mishele from emerald and ivy created the best floral arrangments. Sugar Bear Bakery had such delicous cupcakes! Thank you to the Abbey Company & all of the vendors they work with! We had the best night! The food was also amazing! And Abel was AMAZING! He is truly one of the best DJs we have ever experienced. Our black-and-white dance floor stayed packed all night, the energy was incredible, and everyone had the best time. Seeing all of our favorite people dancing together all night was one of our favorite memories from the wedding.
Choosing Abbey was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They didn’t just provide services—they helped create an experience that we and our guests will remember forever.

From the moment we booked their all-inclusive package, the planning process became incredibly easy. Abbey has built an outstanding network of top-tier vendors throughout San Diego, and every single one exceeded our expectations.
Our wedding coordinator, David Robertson, guided us through every detail with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. He made us feel confident and prepared every step of the way, allowing us to truly enjoy the experience instead of feeling overwhelmed.
DJ Abel did a fantastic job with both the music and audio setup, ensuring everything flowed perfectly throughout the ceremony and reception. Our photographer, Misha Rockova, was incredibly professional, organized, and wonderful to work with. She made everyone feel comfortable while capturing every meaningful moment.
The cake from Sugar Bears Bakery was absolutely delicious, and our guests are still talking about the food catered by Abbey. Everything was beautifully presented and exceeded our expectations.
