We’re sorry to see this review because this was not how the interaction appeared when the computer was picked up. When the laptop was originally brought in, our flat-rate labor charge was explained before the work was approved, with parts being additional. The computer received the requested service and was running well afterward. Regarding the bezel, we originally discussed that bezels are often around $25, although the actual cost can vary by model and shipping. The original part was over $100.00, We located a lower-cost replacement based on the laptop model rather than part number. It was $25 +shipping. When the replacement was installed, we discovered that the main bezel fit, but the lower hinge/wire-cover section did not fit correctly. This was pointed out, and explained before the laptop left our shop. Because the computer was needed back right away, the customer chose to take it in that condition rather than leave it with us for another replacement. Had we not discussed and received approval for that, we would not have considered the repair complete. There was also an invoice-entry mistake where the bezel was accidentally charged twice. That was our mistake, and as soon as it was brought to our attention, we immediately refunded the duplicate charge. We always want customers to be satisfied with our work, and we would have gladly continued working with you on the bezel fit if you had wanted us to do so. We also respect everyone’s faith and would never question someone else’s Christianity over a repair disagreement. We simply wish we had been given the opportunity to address these concerns directly before seeing this review.

Sometimes what sounds like a simple 5-minute fix turns into something much more. Like a 2.5 hour job. We occasionally help people with very quick issues at the counter at no charge. I’ve done that for customers for many years, and I hope we can continue doing it. But those complimentary services are intended for simple problems that can be resolved quickly. In this particular situation, what was described over the phone as a forgotten password ultimately required a complete account recovery, setting up and syncing two-factor authentication, and then resetting the password. It was also on a Samsung phone, which isn’t normally something our computer repair shop even services. The account was successfully recovered, and the customer was charged $75 — considerably less than our normal labor charge for the amount of work that was ultimately required. I never want someone to leave Affordable Computer Repair feeling disappointed, and I certainly don’t like receiving a one-star review. At the same time, after more than 23 years in business, I believe it’s important to be fair to our customers and fair to the people doing the work. We will continue helping people whenever we can, including those little things that sometimes take only a few minutes and cost nothing. But when a five-minute favor turns into a genuine repair or recovery job, there may be a charge for the work performed.
