I don't know why it was so hard to find a trainer like Ashley, but it was. If you're reading this, you're probably on the same lonely road I was on. For context, I've been taking lessons with Ashley for a couple of months. She somehow always remembers exactly where I am in her program and what we're working on. She has a well-thought-out structure, so you always know what's happening in your journey. Ashley is friendly and honest, answers all my questions, and often asks if I have any more. Jenna also deserves a huge shout-out for her patience and knowledge. She'll get you on the right path in the barn, and before you know it, you'll be saddling, bridling, untacking, and bathing your school horse all by yourself. Taking my horsemanship to the next level with AAC was, without a doubt, the right move for me. I've grown more as a rider in just a handful of weeks with Ashley than I did in a lifetime of riding friends' horses, going on trail rides, and taking the occasional lesson. I'm not longer a passenger, I'm a rider. I'm in spurs, taking care of my school horse, and enjoying every second on horseback. I have a clear path toward my dream horse goals, and it's all thanks to Ashley and her wonderful team. If you're on the fence, just take one lesson with her. You'll find out if Ashley is right for you. Every time I go, I say to myself, "I get to ride today." I want that for you, too.

Exceptional in every way. Ashley Allen is a true teacher and in just 9 months I have learned an amazing amount of caring for and riding my horse. She and Jenna, the Barn Manager, provide excellent care of my horse and the other horses that board at the facility. I absolutely recommend for boarding, lessons and clinics and workshops for all ages!
My kids loved their time riding/working at Allen Equestrian Center. Ashley is a knowledgeable instructor with the horses and some good life lessons added as well. If we had not moved away, our kids would still be riding there today.

She is the first trainer I feel comfortable enough to ask questions and talk through what I am struggling with. She explains things very clearly, and has a depth of understanding that allows her to explain techniques in several ways until it makes sense. I now ride on a college team but continue to train with Ashley because she is so exceptional. I showed at IHSA Nationals this year and Ashley was an integral part of my training and preparation.

Beginning. When my family first came to Allen Equestrian Center to ride 4 years ago, we had been through 5 different stables all English style. The Allen Equestrian Center has a western feel, but Ashley has expertise in not just Western riding, but also English. It was very apparent right away what was missing from my family’s riding ability had very little to do with jumping or Western vs English and everything to do with horsemanship and a connection to the horses. Some of the stables we rode would tact the horses and un-tact the horses. It was very much like renting a bicycle or car. At the Allen Equestrian Center, Ashley will tell you which horse to ride based on your skill level, the kind of day the horse has had and if you are trying to level up etc... Then you will find the horse, halter the horse, groom the horse, saddle/bridle the horse and then let Ashley know you are ready for your lesson. This creates not only horsemanship, but a bonding with the horses you will ride. It was not long before my kid was able to put on an “invisible halter” in the pasture and her horse would just follow her. There have been many moments like this at the Allen Equestrian Center. One day, my kid who still dresses in English clothes, was doing the Western spin in one spot and I thought, she is clearly Western at heart now. (You can also bring your own horse or Ashley will come to your ranch. This is just how we do it.) Growth. The growth that both my wife and kid have made as riders is amazing. They both have strong connections to the horses they ride. Which was something they never had at any other stable. Allen Equestrian Center has been a place for mother and daughter to bond over horses and riding. At other stables they rode at, all too often, they would leave in tears from all the instructors being too harsh or a horse they did not have a connection with throwing them off. Ashley has a positive energy that keeps everyone happy they came. Horsemanship. You will learn to groom and tact, un-tact and bathe if necessary. You will apply fly spray, learn to check the horse for anything that may be bothering the horses, likes sores or hoof problems. Above all else, you will learn how your horse is feeling, consider the day it has had before you got there and be understanding that it is an animal and not a machine you are climbing onto. The Allen Equestrian Center. You can go as far as you wish at Allen Equestrian Center with riding. You can also immerse yourself into the ranch if you would like to learn about caring for horses. You can feed, clean stalls, apply ointments put hay out. I doubt there is anything Ashley would not teach you if you asked. Character. When I see kids who spend time around agriculture and animals as their hobby, compared to a sports focus or other things, I see a kid with more character, manners, politeness, sternness and a “can do” attitude. Ashley will insist on good manners while at her ranch. She will also, tell your kids and you that y’all can do anything. Strength comes from repetition and trying. If you fall off a horse, she will encourage you to shake it off and get right back on there. Dogs. You may find you come just for the dogs. Ashley has a lot of nice dogs some work harder than others on the Allen Equestrian Center, like Summer the lab, who is always by Ashley’s side is like the ranch manager. The 3 border collie sisters are Soda (white), Darby (black & white) and Indigo (black). There is more and even some I never met. If you like dogs, bring some treats! Feels. I call Allen Equestrian Center my church. I feel a connection with people, animals and God when I am there. Everyone has a friendly and helpful demeaner. Riders will gladly help other riders with tact problems or whatever. Ashley works hard day and night and is a genuine inspiration to others. Many of her customers help out around the ranch for free, which tells you something.
This is the Best place for lessons, training and boarding!!! ALL THREE Ashely Allen has done for me!! It started out boarding, as every summer we take a trip! Then continued from there!! She is so patient, as it sometimes took me a min or 2 to process what I needed to do. But she guides you through EVERYTHING!! Also making sure you give your horse a treat after a lesson for his good work and plus help stretch his neck from working!! Coal was also green broke and since she worked on him for a while he has been a dream!! Oh and while she was working on him I was able to use one of her lesson horses, Champ! Yes, you can teach an old horse new things!! Well, Ashely can for sure!! I have been to three other places in the area, they were a waste of money. I would be much further along if I had met Ashley first!! I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place and what she’s done for me and my horses.
My daughter and I have been riding with Ashley for 3 wonderful years. She is excellent for both adults and children. Under Ashley's instruction, my daughter's riding has improved so much and she has come to really enjoy the sport. She's a more confident person on and off the horse as a result of her time at the barn. Learning to take care of horses and seeing the results of her hard work has really transformed her. Ashley has created such a wonderful community of riders at her barn, it really is a joy to spend time there every week. I love the covered arena and the club / rec room - - it makes it wonderful to be there regardless of the weather. Enjoy the complimentary coffee, tea and water and get to know your fellow riders! I can't recommend this place enough. Regardless of your skill set (beginner, intermediate, advanced), she'll help you get to the next level with patience and expertise.
