What a treasure! Paul brings a lifetime of experience to his customers with a business model that's more akin to building community than anything that resembles salesmanship. Stop on by and you're likely to encounter a group or friends, both old and new just enjoying each other's company. They just also happen to know what they're talking about when it comes to all things hifi. The world is sorly missing more businesses like Paul's. Oh btw, they have a great selection of products from major hifi players such as Rouge, Mofi, Yamaha, Audiolab, Cambridge and Klipsch Heritage.

This isn’t just a retail shop; it’s a masterclass in how a true specialty business should be run. ​I spent some time hanging out with the crew today and specifically caught up with Paul. We didn't just talk shop or look at gear—we had a great, wide-ranging conversation about audio, life, navigating change, maintaining true quality, and spotting real business opportunities. It’s rare to find that kind of depth and substance anywhere anymore. ​Woodward Avenue used to have a broad range of high-end audio and video options back in the day. Today, Alma's is all that stands, and it is completely obvious why they are the ones who survived. They haven't compromised on the craft, the gear, or the human element. ​If you appreciate premium sound, legacy quality, and dealing with professionals who actually care about the experience, this is the only spot left that matters. ​Incredible shop. Paul at Almas is a bastion of the best customer service one can experience. I recently started to upgrade my audio system so I’ve been upgrading components, and Paul’s been patiently educating me on tradeoffs and how to get the best out of the system I’m building. He put together an amazing turn table setup with a good compromise for my budget but also paired the cartridges, stylus to the absolute best possible spec without over spending or over building. Essentially combining to reach the best Audio profile within the capacity of each component. They have a huge variety of amps, receivers and speakers for any purpose or budget, with a couple fantastic listening rooms to try and compare equipment. It’s really the best way to experience and test gear. I got the last two sets of speakers from there and couldn’t be happier! I’m so thankful they’re close and have good hours here in Royal Oak

They can get the same items as the "bigger" stores. The prices are the same or slightly better. The big difference is SERVICE!! I ordered speakers that were "raved about online". They were garbage and I had to send 100 pound towers back myself. Paul heard my story and basically loaded some amazing speakers into my truck. He told me to audition them for a week IN MY OWN HOME. I ended up buying one model higher, and will not shop anywhere else. I thought this type of service died years ago. Fantastic experience and amazing sound! Thanks Paul.

I bought a pair of Klipsch Cornwall speakers from Almas and could not be happier! I was hesitant at first due to the size of the speakers and how it would sound in my living room. Paul actually brought the speakers from his showroom to my house so I could test them out and know what I was buying and whoa what a big sound! I was still uncertain and wanted to try a smaller speaker to make sure I was making the right decision. He brought a different set of speakers to my house for me to try out and hear the difference in sound. What exceptional customer service! That made all the difference and helped me choose the right speakers with confidence. Thanks Paul for your knowledge and exceptional customer service!
