Amy Kartheiser Design

We worked with Amy (and her wonderful teammates Sarah and Meggie) on our house project this year and can honestly say that they are marvelous. The thing that drew us to AKD was that when we looked at their portfolio, all of their projects were different and reflective of the client's style rather than their own. That impression was completely correct as they were able to take our style (which is eclectic) and provide us with designs and samples that suited us, rather than imposing their own stylistic vision. In addition to being excellent designers, they also worked with us on our insanely short timeline (redoing our house before I had a baby in under 6 months) and coordinated everything on our behalf -from our (amazing) contractor Tom, to getting samples, to picking out furniture, to organizing our move, to coordinating with deliveries - they truly did it all. I can honestly say that there is no way we could have done what we did without this team! I can't imagine moving from our amazing home, but if we ever did (or if we knew someone who was looking for designers...) we wouldn't work with anyone else.

Chicago Specialty Gardens has enjoyed our collaborations with Amy and her team at Amy Kartheiser Design. Both our firms prioritize clear, consistent client communications, design creativity and delivering client projects on time and on budget.

We have used Amy Kartheiser Design for our master bedroom, master bathroom, kitchen, foyer and family room. Amy and her staff are great: Easy to work with on projects, have an opinion but aren’t too pushy. All of their selections are interesting but also timeless. Highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Amy Kartheiser Design for a day, and I cannot express how impressed I am with their exceptional service and creativity. We had the pleasure of working with Amy Kartheiser for a “Design in a Day” and it was extremely helpful in the design process. I had ideas of paint, woodwork, wallpaper all ready to go for our first floor and she was able to fine tune my ideas, while providing expert assurance that my design concept would flow. She also provided specific products (rugs, lighting, etc) that I had not yet researched, as well as local recommendations for craftsman. If you have design ideas but need an expert opinion, and also the reassurance that your investment will work, I highly recommend working with Amy.

I have the pleasure of photographing most of Amy’s locations. What impresses me the most when we photograph one of Amy’s projects, are the clean lines and use of color. Nothing is ever over the top, just tastefully done. Aesthetically pleasing to photograph. Amy and her team are great to work with, always a fun day.

Amy was an absolute joy to work with. She carefully listened to what we were looking for and thoughtfully meshed our desires with her exquisite taste and design sense. She paid attention to details and kept to her commitments. In addition , she listened to our wishes to incorporate some of our current furnishings and was sensitive to our budget. However , when we do again, i will hand over the reigns completely since she is a master !

We worked with Amy Kartheiser Design on furnishing and updating several rooms in our new home. The team’s style is impeccable and they worked with us to achieve just the look we wanted. They work with a group of highly professional and skilled contractors and craftspeople and we appreciated the attention to detail. We highly recommend AKD as an outstanding partner for your design needs.
