A good bookstore with a great ambiance. They genre distribution can use some work, putting different books under quality paperback just doesn't make sense. The books out on the stand are very well curated.

Excellent book shop near Lexington Ave. I went looking for a first edition of The Labyrinth by Walter Schellenberg published in English 1956. The kind lady said they didnt have one but sold one a few months ago at 20 dollars. (She had an amazing set of teeth!)
Was so worth the detour to visit! Super cute vintage bookstore with very knowledgeable staff. It was delightfully quiet inside.
If you like bookstores, this is the place for you. It's been open more than 100 years and has new books and a collection of old books for sale
I ran into President Trump Bill Clinton as I happened to walk into Argosy Boolstore last year. We chatted about a mutual friend that we have. He was charming, brilliant, magnanimous, and kind. He knows the owners of Argosy and shops there frequently. What a most incredible moment for me
this was a very interesting bookstore. I can tell it's very old-school and it's very nice! They had lots of old prints. I was looking at a lot of them. I liked the New Yorker prints. I never read the New Yorker but I know they have iconic covers! I think these were reproductions but still they were really cool to…

Such a gem for a bookworm and or history fiend - could get lost in their books and art for hours!
I was disappointed that the store wasn’t actually 6 stories of browsable books (just a main floor and basement), but it was a pleasant little store with a wide selection of conventional book topics and range of old books. The math and physics book selection was limited but I did score a “Modern Electrical Communications” book from 1979 from the outside $3 rack. EDIT: owner response said that there were other floors to see, but I was told by the lady at the front desk, that the other floors were not open to customers, just the basement and the main floor.
Glad that you didn't leave empty-handed but FYI on your next visit there are other floors to see: 2nd floor is Antique Maps & Prints; 5th floor is History and Modern First Editions; 6th floor is Autographs -- Signed Documents, Photos & Books.
