When I first visited Valerie at Arizona Connections Counseling 4 years ago, I was incredibly anxious about unpacking years of trauma and didn’t know where to begin, but she recognized my hesitation immediately and helped me process how we’d be working through it. That level of understanding when I couldn’t yet vocalize my concerns meant the world to me and the way she continues to show up with that same care will keep me coming back. I appreciate her empathy, listening aptitude, honesty, and the wealth of knowledge she shares with me because she knows I always want to understand. Valerie came highly recommended to me when I was at a low point in my life. In the very first conversation I had with her, a consultation over the phone, she put words to things I had been experiencing my whole life and had never understood or had language for until then. It gave me hope for the first time that someone would understand what I was going through and know how to help me! I know it's literally part of her job to listen to people, but she really is a thoughtful listener with incredible intuition and insight. She puts the work in to both learn new therapeutic skills, and practice them in her own life which is amazing and not something I've found in all therapists. I have experienced different counselors in various capacities and have considered finding a new one at times of insurance changes or family moves, but I'm grateful I’ve been consistent in my sessions with Valerie even when it was logistically trickier - it has been so worth it. I feel like Valerie genuinely hears and cares for her clients while staying professional, and the level of understanding, empathy, and skill she has, has been unmatched. She has been a great guide through some major mental health struggles as well as some traumatic circumstances, and I'm so grateful for what she does!

This place is the best! The scheduling department is awesome and friendly and the counselors are amazing. I always start to work through my issues and then duck and run when it gets to be too much, this time has been different thanks to Kelly at Arizona connection counseling.
