Had a great experience flying today. Phil answered all our questions, explained everything, take off and landing were smooth.

A pilot license is the license to learn. Phil was exceptional and taught this old dog some new tricks. His clarity and patience makes a good teacher. Thanks phil!

Noise constantly all hours of the day and night. Edited review: I have picture proof
Shawns, see our reply to Jeremy's review also.
Flies directly over residential houses constantly every day, does not respond to phone calls, refuses to be accountable to anyone on this earth. Allowing pilots to fly indiscrimately over residential housing at all hours of the day is wrong, do not recommend.
Jeremy, before concluding that ATD is responsible for the aircraft flying over your house, I would encourage you to use FlightAware or another publicly available flight-tracking service. You can actually identify many of the aircraft operating around the airport and, in many cases, determine the tail number and flight path rather than simply assuming an airplane overhead belongs to ATD. Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport is a 24-hour public airport that, according to the airport itself, can accommodate up to 700 aircraft operations per day. Those operations include everything from small single-engine airplanes to corporate jets, helicopters, charter aircraft, privately owned aircraft, and transient traffic. ATD represents only a fraction of that activity. So when you say ATD is “allowing pilots to fly indiscriminately over residential housing at all hours,” I think you may be confusing a flight school located at the airport with the Kansas City Aviation Department, the FAA, and the many independent aircraft operators that use the airport. If you see an aircraft that concerns you, please note the time and use FlightAware to identify the aircraft or tail number. If it turns out to be an ATD aircraft, send me the information and I will personally review the flight. If you provide your general location, I am also happy to ask our pilots to avoid your home when reasonably possible, provided doing so does not conflict with ATC instructions, established traffic patterns, weather, or safety. If your concern is with aircraft activity or noise from the airport generally, the more appropriate place to direct that complaint is the Kansas City Aviation Department, which owns and operates Wheeler Downtown Airport. Their Aviation Department office at MKC is 816-859-7600, and Airport Operations can be reached at 816-289-2718. If the aircraft is actually ours, you are also welcome to contact the CEO directly: Lute Atieh CEO, ATD Flight Systems [email protected] We are absolutely willing to be accountable for our airplanes. We just cannot reasonably be accountable for the other hundreds of aircraft operations occurring at a public airport every day and we also can't be held accountable for your homes proximity to the airport although in limited cases we may be able to accommodate routing if it is in fact our aircrafts.
We took our 84 year old father, who used to fly single engine planes about 30 years ago, on a flight for his birthday with Phil in early August 2026 and had an amazing time. We flew for about an hour over the speedway and Chiefs stadium. Everything is so green right now. Phil talked us through all his maneuvers and everything he was doing which was great to have that kind of communication in our ears. We will for sure do this again for Dad!
I had the opportunity to come along for the ride and capture a child’s very first experience on an airplane. What an incredible and unforgettable experience! Phil was an amazing instructor and made the whole experience so special. He was very informative of the sites of Kansas City as well! It was truly a joy to be there and witness such a memorable first flight!
