I won't take my car anywhere else. Honest people that have quickly diagnosed and fixed issues with my old car. Can't imagine a better mechanic in the city.

I brought my car to Auto Tech Service a few weeks ago and told them about the different noises it was making. They called me back after a few hours and very kindly let me know that they didn’t think my car was worth repairing.
They went through each item and explained that because of how rusty the bottom of my car was, these issues would happen again in short order if I repaired them. I really appreciated that honest opinion because it saved me from putting $4k into my car! I will definitely be going here again with my new car in the future.

Ever since Auto Tech gave me some free services at their old Adams Morgan location in the early 2010s, I’ve held them in high regard. So when my local mechanic couldn't fix an issue that cropped up with my car in September, I went out of my way to bring my car from NW to Auto Tech's Trinidad shop.

My car had a P1454 check engine light (fuel tank pressure sensor/EVAP system issue). Auto Tech did a diagnostic and recommended replacing the sensor for $519. They said they weren’t completely sure it would fix the problem, but they warned me that if I took the car to a dealer, the dealer would want to replace the full EVAP system for at least $2,000.

I trusted Auto Tech’s advice and authorized the $519 repair, but the check engine light came back on the next day. Auto Tech then advised I replace the rest of the EVAP system, quoting me over $1,500 just for the parts.

I decided to get a second opinion from the dealer anyway. For a $195 diagnostic fee, the dealer identified a clogged fuel vent tube, cleaned it out, and fixed the problem. This tube is attached to the same fuel tank pressor sensor Auto Tech replaced -- meaning that Auto Tech never took the time to check for a blockage in the immediate vicinity of the part they replaced.

When I called Auto Tech to provide this feedback and express my disappointment with the misdiagnosis, they blew me off. They insisted they had been right all along, offered an obviously insincere apology, and hurriedly got off the phone.

I am deeply disappointed with Auto Tech and can no longer recommend them due to their failure to properly diagnose this issue, bad advice about how much a dealership would have charged, and dismissal of my feedback.

I’m really disappointed because I had previously trusted this shop with a major repair. In March, I paid $2,294.89 to have my AC repaired here. It was more than I expected, but I don’t know much about car repairs, so I trusted their pricing. The AC was fixed and has worked well.

Today’s experience unfortunately made me question that trust. I needed a brake light bulb replaced. I had already removed the rear panel and screws myself and gotten almost all the way there—I just couldn’t get the light assembly to pull free. I was quoted $160 to replace the bulb, and the amount of work involved was presented to me as though it were a complicated repair.

I declined and went to Jiffy Lube. They replaced the bulb for $10.99.

I completely understand that an independent mechanic has different labor rates and overhead, and I wasn’t expecting them to charge $10.99. But $160 versus $10.99 for the same minor repair is a difference I simply can’t reconcile.

What bothers me most is that I was a returning customer who had already spent $2,294.89 here just six months earlier. This experience has now made me question whether the pricing on my previous repair was fair, too. A relationship with a mechanic depends on trust, and unfortunately this experience lost mine.

I haven't gotten any service from you all yet. But I've heard great things about you all. I haven't heard about the prices yet.

I brought my Lexus SUV to Auto Tech Service because I was experiencing suspension issues while driving on the highway. Their team diagnosed the problem and provided me with detailed explanation about the issues found. They changed my shock and strut assemblies with dealer oem parts. After two days, I heard a noise and returned the vehicle to the shop. They found a defective dealer supplied strut. They ordered a replacement part and changed it quickly. The SUV has been running great since all the work has been completed. Auto Tech Service is a very honest shop and I highly recommend them for maintenance and repairs.

They have helped me out twice since moving here 3 months ago with car troubles, and both times they were extremely kind, fairly priced, and quick with their repairs. I highly recommend them!

Phenomenal service, 5/5. Fast, efficient, and transparent. I dropped my car off around 9 o'clock this morning, due to some clanking sounds coming from the undercarriage. By 11, Miguel had called me to explain what was wrong, what it would cost to fix in parts and labor, and about how long it would take. At 2:48, I got the call that it was done. Literally the toughest part of the whole process was walking to and from the bus station between drop-off and pick-up. I highly recommend and will be going there again for future car service needs.

Miguel corrected a mistake the dealership made and fixed my hood cable. They could not have been nicer. They have a customer for life.
