Both of our kids have been attending BSM for about a year now. They absolutely love it. Mrs. Kenedea Lee has been training our oldest daughter to become a more confident pianist including filling in the gaps on theory from prior teachers. She has blossomed under here. Mr. Joey has been training our youngest making piano exciting and fun, while slowly introducing theory. We're big fans of BSM!

Tori is an incredible teacher, she has helped me grow as a singer. My vocal range has definitely improved as well as my confidence.
Where do I begin, because I can't say enough about Mr. Joey. He is my 6 year old granddaughter's piano teacher. He is the most calm teacher I know with an abundance of patience. She is a newby that started in July @ BSM and has learned so much. She loves her some Mr. Joey and looks forward to her piano lesson every week. What I really like about him is that he allows her to express herself. She is definitely full of personality and always leave with a smile. Also, I can't leave out the front desk staff who is always pleasant and willing to help answer any questions I may have.
Thank you for the review and being a student!
I've had a great experience with The Baltimore School of Music for my young child. She began in Mini Maestros at age 4 and greatly enjoyed this class, always looking forward to it and participating well. She is now taking 1:1 piano lessons with Ms. Jamie at age 5 and has gained piano skills quickly, enjoying all lessons greatly. I highly recommend Baltimore School of Music for this age range!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're so glad your daughter enjoyed Mini Maestros and is continuing to love learning music with Ms. Jamie!
Dr. Graybill is an extraordinary teacher. He got to know me and met me where I am- as an adult student coming back to piano after about two decades. He has been thoughtful about my lessons, curious about my interest in various pieces, and incredible helpful in my technical progress. He also shaped his teaching behavior to how I learn best. He balances teaching with fun in really great way that keeps me wanting to practice, wanting to learn, and keep coming back every week for a new challenge! I have made great strides in my practice and credit Dr. Graybill for not only being my instructor but also a wonderful cheerleader who always encourages and supports me. I could not be happier! :)
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're so glad you've had such a great experience with Dr. Graybill and are enjoying your return to piano!
Great place to learn lessons, I had Dr. Graybill, very structured and kind teacher. Definitely recommend for adult beginners!
Thank you for the great review! We're so glad you enjoyed your lessons with Dr. Graybill, and we appreciate your recommendation!
Mr. Jordan is the best guitar teacher I've ever had! He challenges me every lesson and shows me the music theory in everything. He corrects my technique. I can bring any song and we'll work through it or if I have absolutely no idea what I want he'll introduce me to something new. I highly recommend! ❤️
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're so glad you're enjoying your guitar lessons with Mr. Jordan and appreciate your recommendation!
Ms Jamie has been my baby's teacher for the past few months and she has flourished so much within the time . Each lesson my child comes home more knowledgeable than when i brought her, and everyone is extremely kind at the facility, they really show they care! We love it here!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're so glad to hear your daughter is doing so well with Jamie. It's always great to hear that our students are learning and enjoying their lessons. We love having your family at Baltimore School of Music!
We are very disappointed with my experience at Baltimore School of Music. My daughter has been a student there for more than four years and worked very hard preparing for the end-of-year recital. Unfortunately, on the day of the concert, we were informed that she would not be allowed to perform because we had not registered in advance. While we understand that registration may have been required, this was not clearly communicated to us beforehand, and we only learned about it on the day of the recital. What was most upsetting was how the situation was handled by Ms. Jamie and Mr. Lowe. There was little effort to acknowledge the disappointment or find a solution that would allow her to showcase the hard work and dedication she had invested over many weeks of preparation. Her piece was only about three minutes long, and it seemed that accommodating her performance within a 90-minute recital featuring approximately 20 students with similarly timed pieces would have been possible. Instead, no flexibility or alternative solution was offered. As a long-term student, she was left feeling discouraged and heartbroken. Difficult situations reveal a great deal about an organization. Unfortunately, this experience has changed our perception of the school. After four years, we expected a more compassionate and student-centered response. Because of this experience, we will be looking for a different music school moving forward.
We are disappointed to read this review because it does not accurately reflect what occurred. For transparency, this is now the third review posted by members of the same family regarding a single incident at our recent recital. Recital registration was required for all performers and was communicated to families for months leading up to the event through emails, handouts, signage in the school, and direct discussions between teachers and students. Unfortunately, this student was not registered for a solo performance. The student was, however, registered and scheduled to perform in the Guitar Orchestra and had the opportunity to participate in that performance. The decision not to perform was made after the family chose to leave the recital. We also feel it is important to address the claim that registration requirements were not communicated. Registration information was shared repeatedly through numerous channels over a period of several months. Like all families participating in the recital, this family received the same communications and was subject to the same registration deadlines and requirements. While we understood the student's disappointment, recital programs are carefully planned in advance and finalized before the event. Making last-minute additions is not always possible, and our responsibility is to ensure a fair and organized experience for every student and family who completed the registration process. What is notably absent from this review is that the student's mother became aggressive toward Baltimore School of Music staff during the interaction, including yelling and using inappropriate language in a public setting. Despite this, our staff remained professional, respectful, and focused on explaining the situation. It is also important to note that over the years this student was invited to participate in numerous additional educational and performance opportunities at no cost, including masterclasses and Guitar Orchestra. These opportunities were provided specifically to support the student's growth and development beyond weekly lessons. We regret that the family chose to leave disappointed. However, we believe it is important that the facts surrounding this situation be accurately represented so that prospective families can understand what actually occurred.
I am very disappointed with my experience at Baltimore School of Music after being a student there for five years for classical guitar. I spent two months preparing a solo guitar piece, attended a masterclass at BSM for it, and arrived at the recital expecting to perform. In total I had practiced for more than 15 hours, and Mr. Lowe knew that because of my participation in the Spring Practice Challenge. About 20 minutes before the recital, I was told that I was not registered and therefore would not be allowed to perform my solo. My mom asked if I could perform later in the program if time allowed, but the request was denied and Mr. Lowe (the CEO) didn’t even seem to feel bad for me even though I was in tears. Mr. Lowe even walked away from my mom and left her with the manager who didn’t do anything. I was so upset that they were denying a student who had been coming to their school for 5 years and put a lot of effort into practicing for the recital. Out of all of the students in the strings group, I had practiced the most which really shows how I was willing to go on stage and do a great performance. My mom even told them that I was not going to perform with the orchestra if they wouldn’t let me do my solo. They still said no and I took my things and left. I really didn’t expect that I would be leaving the museum in tears, not because I had played my piece horribly, but because I wasn’t even given a chance. When we arrived back home my mom couldn’t find any reminder emails to register for the recital and my teacher never noticed that I was not registered even though he was well aware that I was going to do a performance. My lessons with Jordan were good for those 5 years, but I really cannot continue with this place. Mr. Lowe just sees me as an emotionless bag of money that he just lost. I’m definitely switching music schools after this and I advise that you all do the same. There’s probably better options for music schools out there that aren’t cash grabs.
We are disappointed to read this review because it contains several significant inaccuracies. The student was registered and scheduled to perform in the Guitar Orchestra and was present at the recital for that performance. The issue arose because the student was not registered for an additional solo performance. Recital registration is required for all performers and is communicated to families months in advance through emails, handouts, signage in the school, and direct discussions between teachers and students. When informed that a solo performance had not been registered, the student's mother became aggressive toward Baltimore School of Music staff, including yelling and using inappropriate language. Despite the circumstances, our staff remained professional and attempted to explain the situation and available options. The student then chose to leave the recital and not participate in the Guitar Orchestra performance for which he was registered and scheduled to perform. We are also disappointed by the characterization of Baltimore School of Music as a "cash grab." Over the years, this student was invited to participate in numerous additional educational opportunities at no cost, including masterclasses and Guitar Orchestra. These programs are provided free of charge to give students additional performance and learning opportunities beyond their private lessons. We genuinely regret that the student left the event disappointed. However, it is important to correct the record and provide an accurate account of what occurred.
