Basement to Roof Home Inspections at a glance
Customers frequently praise the thoroughness of pre-purchase inspections, noting that inspectors cover areas from the roof to the basement and provide detailed same-day reports with clear explanations. Punctuality, fair pricing, and effective communication are also common positive themes. However, several low-star reviews criticize the service for missing significant defects, such as roof leaks, foundation cracks, and structural issues, which buyers discovered after moving in.

Don completed the inspection on the home we are in the process of purchasing. He took his time to inspect the house and was very thorough. He went over all of his findings at the end of the inspection and answered all of our questions. We got the report back the same day. The report was very thorough. We had a great experience using Don as our home inspector and we would use him again!

Don arrived promptly at the site and was well prepared for the inspection. A thorough inspection of the interior and the exterior of the house including the attic, basement, and garage was conducted. A comprehensive inspection report detailing each section of the house and surroundings was provided. The various defects identified were highlighted and recommendations to fix them were suggested.
The summary of the marginal and defective items, at the end of the report, was helpful for quick reference of areas that needed special attention and remediation. I have not come across such a thorough inspection and report as this, in my three house moves. I highly recommend Don and thank my agent for recommending Don.

Unfortunately for me, Don's inspection revealed around $30k worth of damage I had no idea about on a home I was ready to purchase. Fortunately, his inspection saved me from going ahead with the purchase of the house and dealing with all of the foundation, plumbing, roof, chimney, etc. issues in the future. Thank you Don for your good work. His price was fair as well.
Update 10/2026: used them again for a different home months later, had Matt as the inspector this time, exceptionally good service again. Thank you to the team for helping me identify a better home this time! Would recommend them for any home inspection

Thank you so much for the review! I enjoy finding things that would of cost buyers, or been a negative part of your Home ownership. I do make the effort to have fair prices, hard to find any these days!!
I will be here for you when the right House comes along.

The best home inspection process I have ever had purchasing a home. Matt was out next day following the initial call for a Saturday inspection. I'm the annoying guy that follows around the inspector asking questions and learning. Matt took extra time out of the inspection to walk me through everything, and I left clearly understanding every finding. We received the report back same day.

Excellent work. Don did a pre-purchase inspection for us yesterday, and I can't say enough about the the depth and quality of the inspection. The process far exceeded my expectations and left me with the most useful report - not only for our purchase decision but for long-term home maintenance. Don is an experienced builder, and it shows. Roof to basement, electrical to structure - coverage was excellent. A sit down afterwards, combined with a thorough written report, left no questions unanswered. I recommend Basement To Roof without hesitation.

We were concerned that some cracked brickwork on our home may be a sign of foundation issues, but we were concerned to have it reviewed by a foundation company who may just be looking for work, so we asked Don to give an unbiased evaluation. Don did a quick inspection and gave us a lot of great information on what mostly likely was the cause of the cracking, which put our minds at ease. We were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism, and we would definitely use him again!
