Amazing experience finding this hidden gem in Louisville. My boyfriend and I originally had reservations with a steak restaurant for his birthday. We decided last minute to cancel and wanted to try something different. We found this restaurant near a bakery we go to often and were surprised to find they had a split Afghan and Italian menu. Never trying Afghan food before we decided to go with this menu and it did not disappoint. It was by far some of the best food we had. We ordered the Mantu (minced beef dumplings), the combo kabab plate and the Chapli Kabab and each dish was amazing with a huge portion size. I loved the yogurt sauce on the mantu and the chapli was seasoned to perfection. It wasn’t too spice or bland it was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the qabili Palau (lamb shank) and it was falling off the bone it was so tender.
Very great service overall and we will be back!
The food was absolutely amazing. Had the combo Kebab platter, Aushak, and Bolani.
Every part of the meal was just super tasty.
Service was kind and friendly. Highly recommend!
We were looking for something different when passing through Louisville, and this place hit the mark! They offer both Italian and Afghani food. We started with the bolani appetizer (potato stuffed flatbread with this amazing spicy cilantro dipping sauce), which we couldn't stop eating! My husband had the Tuscan chicken with pasta. It was a huge portion of chicken and the creamy sauce was delectable. I ordered the Mantu, which were handmade dumplings with spiced meat, garlic yogurt sauce and lentils - what a fantastic dish. The prices were very reasonable as well. Bellissimo is a little gem of a place and I'm so glad we discovered it!
This was my first time visiting. Don't let the Italian name fool you. I was intrigued by the Afghani menu. It was very good. My two friends tried items from the Italian side of the menu. It was all very good. The service was friendly though be prepared for a leisurely pace.

The wait was very helpful describing dishes and pointing me a choice that was flavorful but not spicy. The generous portion was prepared quickly and kept me so satisfied that I ended up skipping dinner. Dining area has comfortable seating. They are currently remodeling their outdoor seating space.
I popped in on a Friday at 5:00 when Jasmin’s was sold out. I expected the Italian menu but was pleasantly surprised at all the Afghan options. I placed an order for carryout: Mantu, lamb Palau , baklava, and two cokes. The total was $55 with tip. I waited at a table for a very reasonable 15 minutes or so. The atmosphere was pleasant and the chairs were comfy. I got home and realized the baklava was missing, as well as the bread that was supposed to come with the manti. The food was amazing but the missing items were a total bummer. I hope they triple check carryout orders because there’s no good way to make it right. I called and she graciously offered a refund of the missing item but who knows how long it will take to post. I did not want to drive 12 miles round trip for a $3 item, a $3 refund is silly (not to split hairs but my tip was based on the original total), and most importantly, it’s hard to place a dollar value on the disappointment of a missing sweet treat.
Next time I’ll dine in so I can make sure I get everything my heart desires and nothing is forgotten.
