When riding by on my bicycle, my backpack burst at the seams, so I went in to get some tape and found So Much more. My Briggs and Stratton spark plugs were nearly $5 less than any of the big box stores. Like a hidden gem, I'll definitely be going there Much More often!

LOVE going into Black's. There's nothing like having a personal experience at a local owned business that's not a big corporate chain. They are very personable, knowledgable, accessible & helpful. Tommy is the bomb.com, has been my go to & never complains. It's refreshing to still find locally owned businesses in our current concrete, industrialized, corporate world. Drive the extra mile if you need to & SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES. We need to keep them from going extinct! (Now...that'll be $199 for the good review. LOL...just kidding people.)

Never hesitate to go to Blacks Lumber. I have Never had a bad experience when shopping here. Everyone in store is super helpful to help and knowledgeable.
This review is long overdue. I moved to Bloomington, IN nearly 3 years ago and started my home improvement business simultaneously. I go to Black Lumber Co. probably multiple times per week for various tools and materials; I’m always impressed with the selection of products, but I have to put heavy emphasis on the knowledge base and friendliness of the staff as a whole. Their willingness to help me think through some of the complex hurdles I encounter daily as a contractor is top-tier and so deeply appreciated. It is difficult to achieve their level of consistency as a business, and I am grateful that they are practically my neighbor. Black’s is easily my favorite hardware store in Bloomington. This isn’t meant to throw any shade at other hardware stores in town, because I honestly love them all. I just trust every employee there to help me make good decisions on my projects, especially when the stakes are high. I love this place.

Went in Saturday hoping to buy wood, drill set etc. Heard an older guy wearing a blue hoodie saying things like he wished they still hung black people up from trees. I left after hearing this. I own my business here in Bloomington and this is not something anyone should have to hear.
This remark is totally unacceptable and not tolerated by Black Lumber Company. The employee in question has resigned from the company today (they denied the allegation but still resigned). Black Lumber has been in business for nearly 100 years. I have been with the company for 35 years, and I assure you that we do not tolerate such derogatory, despicable behavior. I encourage you to call me and discuss this so I can personally apologize. I have reached out to your business phone, but was unable to connect. Once again, this is unacceptable, and I apologize for the remark. In this day and age of unnecessary division, we must all strive to be better humans.
