At Boston Neurodynamics, they create a safe, caring, and engaging environment for learning. Mistakes were welcomed and enriched the learning experience. Diana and Ainat took their time with each one of us during the in-person practicum to make sure we understood the process and how to put theory into practice!!! I feel so inspired to get started and to stay connected with them and my cohort!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Boston Neurodynamics declined to treat me after an initial consultation, and I want to share my experience so others know what to expect. During the call, I felt I was met with skepticism from the very beginning. The director’s first question was essentially, “What makes you think this would work for you?” Rather than an informational consultation, the tone felt more like I needed to justify why I wanted to explore neurofeedback in the first place. I didn’t sense any enthusiasm or openness toward helping me. The clinic asked about my ketamine treatment, and I shared that I was satisfied with my current provider. They asked if I would be willing to work with their in-house ketamine provider, and I said yes. I then spoke with their ketamine provider, who described their approach, and I said I was open to trying it. Despite this, I was later told that my prior experience with ketamine made them uncomfortable proceeding, even though I had expressed willingness to follow their model. This was confusing and felt inconsistent with what I had communicated. At one point, Ainat said, 'Our clinic is really about working with trauma.' I shared that both of my parents had died by suicide and that I was looking for stabilization and support. Ainat's response was, 'Sorry about that. I don’t feel comfortable working with you. Nothing personal.' Then abruptly ended our call, while I was still trying to explain my reasons for seeking neurofeedback. Overall, my experience was that Boston Neurodynamics was dismissive and not receptive to working with me, despite my interest and willingness to follow their recommendations. Others should be aware that the clinic appears to be selective in ways that may not always be transparent during the consultation process. Ainat brushed me off by saying that there are other neurofeedback providers I could work with. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to consider exploring a few different options to find the right fit for their needs. I got a high quality QEEG report from SoundBrain in Cambridge for less than half of the price quoted to me by Boston Neurodynamics, and did not encounter any dismissiveness or gatekeeping in my straightforward appointment at SoundBrain. The gentlemen at SoundBrain were helpful and a pleasure to work with, I can recommend their services. Having undergone a course of neurofeedback treatment and objectively benefitted, as is visible on my follow up QEEG, it isn't clear what "working with the trauma" means in the context of a neurofeedback session. Working with trauma in any context requires approaching people with curiousity and personability, which are not characteristics I felt in Ainat in the course of our discouraging and offensive interaction. After Bessel Van der Kolk was removed as medical director from the Brookline Trauma Center following internal investigations of his pattern of behavior that denigrated and bullied staff and created an unsafe workplace, Boston Neurodynamics hired him to be on their board.
Dear Will, We are sorry that your experience at BND was not what you expected, and we are glad you found a place that fits your needs. Wishing you all the best!
