It is not often these days that I get pleasantly surprised but today I did. Six years ago, we purchased a solar pool heating system. I never had it serviced and it seemed to work fine. I recently got a water leak warning on my home flow meter which turned out to be a malfunctioning landscape water valve. In searching for the leak our plumber went onto the roof to check the solar pool water heating system piping and did notice a few minor leaks around the piping flanges. Also unrelated, the small system controller display had faded over the years from the sun and was difficult to read the LED display. It wasn’t a problem for me as I never changed the desired temperature setting but since the system needs minor piping repairs I thought I would also have that looked at. In calling the original installing company I found out they no longer sold or serviced these systems and gave me the contact information of the service company. I called this company and after an onsite service call for an evaluation, got quotes for 1000$ for piping and rack revisions and an upgrade controller that had an app, wi-fi etc. as an option. Not at all was an option what I had asked for to fix the existing issue were not any minor repairs done as part of the service call. They also buggered up my pool pump settings but fortunately my pool service company was able to reset that the next day. [That company will not be getting a positive review from me.] As the quote did even come to me for nearly two weeks, I researched on Google and found Celestial Solar. I talked to Chris who was more than helpful in discussing my system problems. Two technicians, Jordan and Ivan came out a few days later and checked out my system. Jordan explained to me that indeed a few valves were leaking and needed to be replaced. My controller was fine and they just needed to order a replacement LED display. Piping racks and all else were fine. They went through the system and checked and tightened what they could. Overall, instead of 1000$ my repairs should be in the $600 range (give or take) which I am thrilled as it’s not several thousand dollars. Both Jordan and Ivan were very polite, customer service oriented, explained the problem in easy detail, and respected my property. I could not have had a better first experience and I look forward to them coming back and making the repairs when the parts arrive in a few days. I am told a good percentage of home swimming pools do have a passive solar water heating system and are often paired with an electric or gas heater to offset the operation cost. If you have one of these systems or are considering getting one, I advise contacting Celestial Solar for a quote. I think these folks are the real deal. I would give them a 6-star if I could. Highest Recommend! JH
