I rarely write reviews, but our experience with Champion Inspections and Jason was bad enough that I believe other homeowners, buyers, and real estate agents should know what happened. Champion’s website describes its inspectors as “experienced” and says they have “years of experience in real life applications of solving inspection problems.” It also specifically states: “We are Not Alarmists.” That was certainly not our experience. During the inspection of our home, Jason managed to break our shower valve. My Realtor contacted him afterward - to let him know what had happened. Jason then returned to our home (unannounced) to “fix” it. He was unable to repair it because the valve had been stripped so badly. I ultimately had no choice but to pay to have it replaced. During the sewer scope, we had another problem. He flooded the bathroom wall area and laundry-room floor. I will attach video. At that point, I was not willing to have him back in our home and risk additional damage. I paid another local company out of my own pocket to perform the sewer scope. They completed it without incident, told me the sewer line looked good, and provided me with the video. The bigger issue was the number and severity of concerns raised in Jason’s inspection. His findings caused the buyer enough concern that she hired a structural engineer, plumber, and electrician to independently evaluate the house—approximately another $200 each on top of what she had already paid for the inspection, sewer scope, radon testing, etc. The results of those professional evaluations were very different from the picture painted by the inspection. One example was our covered patio. Jason reportedly said it was so unsafe that he “wouldn’t stand underneath it if it was snowing at all.” The structural engineer inspected it and reached essentially the opposite conclusion. His assessment was that the structure was substantial—“overkill”—and that he had no concern about it coming down anytime soon. Another concern in the inspection involved a wall in our laundry-room area and whether it was properly constructed. The structural engineer examined the area and the concern was so unclear to him that he asked the buyer what, specifically, she was worried was going to happen. For perspective, we lived in this home for more than 20 years. Jason also raised concerns about the installation of the water heater. The buyer’s plumber inspected it and told us the installation was properly done. The inspection did identify a legitimate electrical issue. We contacted the power company and had it corrected. So this review is not coming from someone upset simply because an inspector found something wrong with his house. When a legitimate problem was identified, we fixed it. My issue is the combination of property damage during the inspection, an unannounced return to our home, additional damage/problems during the sewer scope, and serious-sounding conclusions that subsequently did not hold up when evaluated by the appropriate licensed professionals. They say they write reports in a way that “Minimize Fears and Doubts. FACT Based Knowledge, NOT Fear.” Based on what happened with our buyer, I find that statement to be a lie. Champion’s website also emphasizes its experience as general contractors and says that experience allows them to solve inspection problems. In my opinion, that marketing creates an expectation of a particularly high level of construction expertise. Another lie. A home inspector absolutely should identify genuine safety concerns. I would expect nothing less. But there is an enormous difference between identifying a legitimate defect and presenting speculation with a level of certainty or severity that causes unnecessary alarm. After watching multiple major concerns raised during this inspection fail to hold up under evaluation by the corresponding professionals—and after paying to repair damage and have the sewer scope redone—I would not use Champion Inspections, and I would not recommend them to a homeowner, buyer, seller, or Realtor.

Jason came out to do an inspection on my condo. He was super thorough, professional, and taught me how to do the upkeep maintenance needed to actually take care of my home. It was so much more helpful than I expected an inspection to be, and gave me a lot of peace of mind.

Jason was amazing! The most thorough inspector I have ever used. Took so much time to explain everything, asked over and over if we had any questions. Will definitely use him again.

2026 Update: Advertised a free Radon test but never delivered. We finished our basement unaware of 7+ Radon levels. Because of Champion Inspect’s failure to test, we can no longer install an internal mitigation system and are stuck with an external one. Unreliable service that caused permanent logistical issues.

We had two buyer home inspections done by Jason—both were so incredibly thorough and reassuring. Thanks to him, we knew what we were getting into before fully committing to purchasing a home. & Now that we’ve done so, he’s been here through several steps, via his inspection report and vast knowledge of innumerable home safety & maintenance topics. Jason’s a diligent, handsome, & kind walking encyclopedia. Any question you’ve got, he’s got an answer—in a world full of disinformation and cut corners, his knowledge & services stand above. He helped our buying process feel so much more safe and so much less daunting. He’s the best!

Thank you, I really appreciate that. My goal is always to give you a clear, honest picture of the home so you can move forward with confidence and no surprises. I’m glad the inspections and report helped make the process feel more manageable, that’s exactly what I’m aiming for. And I’ll take “walking encyclopedia” all day. If anything comes up as you settle in, don’t hesitate to reach out.

I hired Jason at Champion Inspect because he offered everything in one package — sewer scope, thermal imaging, and radon testing. He’s knowledgeable, confident, and the most beneficial thing he offered was the permit history, which not many inspectors provide. It’s clear he has a builder’s background and knows how to explain things in detail. That said, his tone and approach were very salesman-like through both inspections. He’s smooth with how he presents information, but it comes across as if business has been slow and he’s focused on making money. I get it — everyone has to make a living — but it just didn’t sit right when I later analyzed everything with my realtor. He tends to be nitpicky, gives off a charming but pushy vibe, and provides repair estimates even though inspectors technically aren’t supposed to. His structure estimate of around $20,000 matched what he quoted for the first home I asked him to inspect, which made it feel more like a rehearsed number than an objective evaluation. He told me after my first inspection that I’d be a “priority client,” but communication slowed down after payment. I texted him early this morning about today’s reinspection, and all he said was he’d get back to me — no follow-up or effort to confirm. On the surface, Jason looks professional and knowledgeable, but underneath, it feels more about sales than substance. In hindsight, I wish I’d gone with someone else, paid separately for a sewer scope, and done my own research on permit history.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and I’m sorry to hear parts of the process didn’t meet your expectations. My goal with every inspection is to provide a complete picture of the property, including details like permit history, structure evaluations, and system performance, so my clients can make fully informed decisions. In this case, there were a few points of conflicting information and some unrealistic timing expectations, but I still made every effort to accommodate your schedule, including completing the inspection late on a Saturday to help keep things on track. Regarding repair cost ranges, those are never intended as quotes, only general estimates to help clients understand potential scope and priority. I take pride in maintaining transparency and professionalism at every step, and I regret if my communication or tone gave a different impression. Your feedback is valued and taken seriously, and I’ll use it to ensure my communication and follow-up remain as clear and timely as the inspections themselves. I wish you the best moving forward and appreciate the opportunity to have assisted with your inspections.
