We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Chef and The Host for a private family dinner in La Jolla. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was beautifully prepared, incredibly fresh, and every course was delicious. The seafood was the highlight of the evening, especially the lobster, crab, shrimp, and salmon, all of which were cooked perfectly, presented beautifully, and with generous portions. The appetizers, sides, and desserts were equally impressive and made the entire meal feel special from beginning to end. Just as important, the service was warm, professional, and seamless. Our group was able to relax and enjoy the evening while everything was handled behind the scenes, from table setup to cleanup and even storing the leftovers in the refrigerator. The entire experience felt elevated without ever feeling stuffy or overly formal. This dinner became one of the highlights of our family weekend. We had a large group, and everyone was impressed by both the quality of the food and the overall experience. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for an exceptional private dining experience in the San Diego/La Jolla area. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Chef Will and Karen provided an incredible experience for our family. They were communicative, polished, and so streamlined. The food prepared by Chef Will was outstanding, and the atmosphere and hospitailty created by Karen was fantastic. We wouldn't hesitate to work with them again, and cannot recommend them strongly enough.

The BEST WEDDING DECISION I made (next to saying "I do.") Wow, the Chef and the Host blew us away... From their communication to professionalism, flexibility and timeliness, they are by far the best in the business and will not let you down. The food we had was to die for. It was some of the best food I, and my guests, have ever had. My guests were talking about the food for weeks. Truly worth every penny. This team is unbeatable. Don't hesitate, book the Chef and the Host for any small, medium or large gathering you're thinking about having. I will definitely be hiring them in the future again. My sisters and I wanted to do something different to celebrate our Mom’s 82nd birthday this year. So we decided to rent an AirBnB in San Diego and find a personal chef for a more private dining experience. Enter Chef and the Host – Chef Will and Karen created a 5-course Italian-themed plated dinner, and it was truly exceptional from start to finish. Every dish was made with fresh ingredients sourced from local San Diego farmers, which added a vibrant, seasonal touch to the meal. The table setup was meticulous and elegant—clearly a lot of care went into every detail. Chef Will and Karen were not only professional, but also incredibly personable and fun, making the evening feel warm and inviting. Heck – they even left the kitchen more spotless than when they started with it! Highlights included the delicate squash blossoms with ricotta and the perfectly creamy citrus panna cotta—both were absolutely unforgettable! For the caprese salad - you can never go wrong when heirloom tomatoes are in season. Maybe one minor setback – the pasta may have been a tad too al dente – but the sauce more than outdid the dish – so all good! If you're in San Diego and looking for a unique, high-quality dining experience with a personal touch, I highly recommend this talented duo. You won’t be disappointed!
We cannot recommend Chef and the Host enough! They were very responsive with planning the event and had extensive options of menus to choose from. They were on schedule and provided a wonderful experience. The meal was amazing and we can’t stop talking about it!
