Really enjoy this gym. It has a gritty feel that I personally love, and Nate is also constantly investing in the space and making it better. It seems like there’s always a new piece of equipment showing up. There are also a lot of knowledgeable trainers here and just a good group of people who take their training seriously. Definitely a great spot to train!

Went with a buddy of mine while in town for a day and this gym is easily one of if not the best gyms I’ve been to. One of the first things you notice is there’s no shoes allowed, meaning everyone is either in socks or barefoot. Found it a bit unusual at first but after noticing how clean the floors were I quickly began to appreciate it. I also noticed a lot of the guys had their shirts off, already way more laid back than my current gym’s (planet fitness) whole “lunk alarm” culture 🙄 . Everyone there was super friendly, the gym really had a great atmosphere I went at 5:30pm, the worldwide “hell hour” for most gyms 😂 , but even with it being a bit packed, this gym has so much space, benches and machines that I still had no issue doing any of the workouts I wanted. Overall a great gym, will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town

  • Busyness: A little busy
  • Powerlifting equipment: Bench press, Dumbbells, Barbells, Other
  • Maintenance: Pristine

I’ve trained at a lot of gyms, and CoMotion is imo one of the best in Milwaukee. It’s open 24 hours, has a mix of modern and refurbished, rare gym equipment and the atmosphere is great. I do mainly bodybuilding type workouts but it has lots of squat racks, free weights and functional equipment for powerlifters or athletes. I don’t mind making the drive across town to train here!

So I’ve been going to this gym over a year and I might as well rate it. It’s great. It’s a pretty fair $49 a month for a growing amount of machines and services. They’ve got one on ones, they’ve got group stuff, but if you’re like me, you just care about machines, racks and free weights being open and they are. If you prefer a less busy gym, this is probably not the one for you, there’s a decent amount of hustle and bustle, so you’ll eventually run into someone that’s annoying. It happens. For me, it’s the guy who has to film himself doing everything. Like, dude, some people don’t want to be featured in your shitty lifestyle vlog. And there’s another guy who brings a whole gym with him to the gym and never puts any of his stuff away, and he uses like three machines at once while super setting, it’s annoying. The staff as almost always around and are pretty nice! They clearly care. I will say that the 1 star off comes from it not always being the most clean place. If you’re a germaphobe, this place isn’t for you. I also got a metal sliver in my hand and foot at different points of me going throughout the years and that’s never good. But since there’s a recycling center across the street, I’m sure people are unintentionally tracking in some bad stuff. But it clearly states no shoes or dedicated lifting shoes. I’d recommend the latter because while I’ll deal with the occasional discomfort of taking tweezers to my foot, I don’t think anyone else should have to. Overall stellar gym. And well worth the price of admission. And the detractions are not really the fault of the gyms.

This gym requires you to set up an automatic credit card payment to join and makes it impossible to cancel. I moved out of state 8 months ago and have sent them multiple emails to please stop charging my card, but they do not respond and continuing charging.

Response from the owner · Edited 2 months ago

Ryan, I did respond with the cancel instructions and gave my phone number (in case you needed help canceling) and you never responded to me so I assumed you figured it out like everyone else that has canceled successfully in the past (yes it is possible to cancel and you can do it online) I also verified you received the cancel instructions in the same email the gym access code was sent so you wouldn’t miss it. The process of canceling is done completely online and takes less than a minute. No coming into the gym or hidden fees. If there was any issues canceling after I gave you the instructions again, you could have just asked via the phone number I gave you (and is posted everywhere) and I would have helped you before you got charged.

This gym takes unflattering photos/ videos of people in their building and posts on Tik Tok without the knowledge or approval of the person. Horrible people.

Response from the owner · Edited 2 months ago

For context, Rick has never been a member of CoMotion and has never been in the gym. He was a delivery driver who works for XPO that dropped and damaged a pallet full of very pricey gym equipment off of the back of his truck when he was attempting to deliver an order I paid for. I did take a picture of the damaged goods and will continue to keep those pictures as proof online until your company reimburses me for the thousands of dollars in damages you caused. I’d be happy to consider removing those pictures when your company pays for the damage you caused!
