I just had a problem with my fridge. Nicole set up the day to come out to my home and everything went nice and smooth. I would recommend this company to all in need of appliance services. Thank you Nicole.

I called CCAS because my “out-of-warranty” 2019 fridge was icing at bottom shelf just on top of the bottom freezer. The tech (Adam) came in and at the door, he asked whether it was okay to enter with shoes! Really? We are in the 21st century, who does that? I asked him to put plastic shoe covers I keep near main door. He was happy doing that. When he saw we had a Samsung fridge that is making ice at the bottom shelf, he did not even check the problem. I wondered to myself, how did Adam know what the problem was without checking? Well, he stated that he knew what the problem was from his experience. According to him, some part in the section of the fridge at top labeled “Twin Cooling Plus” was at fault, and needed to be replaced. Estimated part cost $249, plus a labor cost of $300 (Total $549). He asked me whether to order the part. Well, having been cleaning this “hard-to-remove” ice for several weeks, I quickly agreed. He stated he would call me to schedule when the part arrived. A few hours later (instinctively), I decided to check with Samsung. They connected me with their local service provider. The tech listened to my problem description and asked me to pay $140 to schedule service. He stated there would be an additional charge of $60 after the service was completed. If a part was needed, that would be extra. So, I gathered that if the part cost as CCAS had told me ($249), Samsung be a better choice for the service with a total charge of $449 ($100 cheaper that CCAS). I decided to think about it for 2 days. On the third day, I called CCAS to cancel. They told me that the part had already been ordered and arrived; so, if I cancelled, I would have to pay a restocking fee of 25%, plus shipping charges to and fro for a total of $68. I immediately refuted it, but Adam told me they would send it to collections. I told him to invoice me to give time to think about it. Meanwhile, I paid Samsung $140 and scheduled service. The following week, a Samsung tech came by. He asked that I remove the foods in the fridge to leave it clear. He proceeded with removing the shelves and opening the cover at back of fridge. After about 15 minutes, the tech I informed me that the water was leaking from an iced blocked pipe at back of fridge. He removed it, cleaned it out, and put it back. He then told me the problem should be fixed now. He gave me a 90-day warranty and asked me to call them should the problem resurface. Since I had paid $140 earlier, the tech said I needed to pay nothing else. What? Just saved $409 (549-$140) by skipping CCAS! Talk of experience that Adam mentioned - had he taken the time to check the problem, he would perhaps have learned that I did not need a costly part (especially for a 2019 reputable manufacturer’s appliance). A few days later, an invoice of $68 arrived in the mail from CCAS as promised. Now, after receiving it, I asked myself: I didn’t even need this part had Adam taken the time to diagnose the problem as expected. Why am I even paying the $68? According to Adam, it was because I asked him to order the part he had GUESSED was needed. Think about that for a moment. Now, for future would-be customers, figure this for yourself as you prepare to call CCAS. I am just so done with them.
Regarding the shoe covers, only about 5-10% of our customers ask for them so while his response may be shocking to you, most customers do not mind. It is important for our techs to keep shoes on and keep grounded due to working with electricity; also some shoe covers cause slipping which could create an accident. Regarding his quick diagnosis, he sees probably 10 Samsung fridges per week and is very familiar with their common failures. Since you mentioned that the Samsung tech did not replace the "twin cooling" evaporator panel, we are sure that this fix is temporary and the problem will return. There is moisture built up inside that panel which causes the ice to build up around it. Regarding the charges, we had to pay shipping to get the part to our office and once you cancelled the repair, we had to pay another shipping fee to return the parts to the distributor as well as a 15% (not 25%) restock fee. Those charges were passed on to you because you initially approved the repair.
Amazing service! Honest, reliable and trustworthy business. We've had nothing but the best experiences and will continue to use them for our future needs!

Nicole in the office is super professional and so was Adam the repair person! I can not thank you enough for all your help! Amazing and fast service!!! We called them Thursday night and they called us to schedule an appointment the next day! Thank you for the excellent service!
We know how critical it is to get appliances back up & running so we always do our very best to provide a quick turn-around. We are happy that we solved your issue & hope to hear from you again in the future!
I just wanted to share about how Contra Costa Appliance treated my elderly mother. We were having an issue with our Kenmore washing machine. The fabric softener tray was not draining into the washer. Adam, the owner of the Contra Costa Appliance, was the service tech that came out. He said the solenoid that provides water to the fabric softener area was bad. We owned the washer for over 6 years and never had an issue with it prior. He ordered a new solenoid and replaced it. After replacing it he told my mother that if it doesn’t drain again she would just have to poor a pot of hot water down the tray to flush it out. I found it odd that it worked 6 years without needing to be flushed. He put the new part in and tested it while he was here. It worked while he was here. So he says! Within two more loads the same issue arose. It wouldn’t drain again and when it did there would be water left in the fabric softener bay. I only found out it was not working again because I caught my mother carrying a pot of hot water upstairs. I asked what she was doing and she told me what Adam told her to do. I called for him to come back out. The part was under warranty so I figured what’s the big deal? He got real upset when I said I wanted it replaced again. He explained he has been doing this for 26 years and he knows what he is talking about. That’s fine but it doesn’t mean the supposed new part wasn’t faulty. Just replace it! He ended up replacing it but made it very clear to my mother he would not be coming back out if this happens again. He said he does not have time to chase ghost issues, warranty or not!! Adam and his business are the most unprofessional people I have ever worked with. I will definitely not be using them again, EVER!! Why he thought telling my elderly mom to flush the tray with a pot of hot water if it happens agin is ok, I can not comprehend! If it worked for 6 years prior then it should work again without needing to be flushed after you repaired it. Very unprofessional!! He should be ashamed of himself by trying to take advantage of a senior citizen. I don’t normally post reviews that are negative because when you call the company they usually do everything possible to help your situation. When I called them the lady answering the phone informed me Adam was the owner and was just as rude as he was. She ended up hanging up on me. But when the owner of the business is the person who tried to take advantage of the elderly I felt obligated to let others know so he doesn’t try to take advantage of your parents or grand parents.
We absolutely do not & never have "taken advantage of senior citizens." This implies that we have committed financial exploitation or have exploited her vulnerability for personal gain; neither of which is true. This is considered defamation against our company as you have no proof that this happened. Your mother was given an estimate which she approved & paid. We went back to her house 3 more times at no additional charge to try to find the secondary issue that she was complaining of. The original problem (fabric softener not being dispensed) was fixed with the first part that was installed. The secondary problem was water being left in the dispenser after the fabric softener went through it. This is a common issue so Adam was hesitant to replace the part under warranty right away & wanted to try to catch the problem in action but never could on those additional visits. He then went ahead & replaced it a second time but did give a clear warning that it may not resolve the issue. We did not hear anything for a month & now you called today to tell us that it did fix the issue to which I replied "oh that's great, thanks for letting us know" but then you replied that it wasn't great because Adam was so rude & you just wanted to call & let us know how unhappy you were. I apologized that you weren't satisfied but you continued on about how awful our company is & how you were going to go online & let everyone know about us. Also I did not hang up on you; I had another line ringing so I said "that's fine, feel free to write a review, thank you, goodbye" Also, you were rude towards Adam & his trainee as soon as they walked in on the day that you were there. He may have been short with you but that was because you were questioning his knowledge on the machine & implying that he didn't order the correct part in the first place. There were no issues at the other 4 visits that you weren't present for. You can certainly write a review about your displeasure & your version of what took place but what you cannot do is slander a business & accuse them of being predatory against elders with zero proof!
knowledgeable, reliable, and trustworthy. Customer for over 20 years
Great service. They’ve worked on our LG appliances as needed and kept everything running.
Great service! Installed our new microwave quickly and expertly. Arrived on time, gave us a senior discount...we are more than pleased to highly recommend this family owned business!
Contra Costa Appliance worked on my Samsung washing machine. They originally suspected the tension rods were bad and thus the machine wouldn't complete the cycle. After replacing the rods the problem persisted. The tech (I can't remember his name, but he was very helpful and informative) called the owner and the owner refunded the cost of the rods and just charged me the diagnostic fee as it would likely exceed the value of the washer to complete further repairs. I can't express how unusual it is these days to encounter such great customer service. Would definitely call on again.
Thanks so much for the kind review! We always strive to be honest & forthcoming about possible secondary issues. We are glad that you were pleased with our service & we hope to see you again.
Hands down the best technician to ever enter our home in the past 20 years!! Danny Berbena is absolutely the best. He was kind, calm, knowledgeable, efficient, always smiling. He really knows his stuff and was very calming in terms of presenting the problem to us. In just two efficient visits he fixed our Samsung oven - just in time for the holidays. The company has a great system of texting their service window, texting when the technician is en route - just an all around wonderful experience. I know who to recommend going forward to friends, family and clients!! Do not hesitate to use Contra Costa Appliances!!
Thanks so much Olga! Your review is appreciated.
