We highly recommend David's Instrument Explorer class - it's unlike any other, and our daughter feels lucky to have found it! She is a 10-year old music lover who has considered studying various instruments over the years but hasn't identified the best fit for herself.  Over the past three months, David has given her the opportunity to play dozens and dozens of instruments - mainstream and rare; ancient and modern, while also touching on history and music theory. David is what makes this class so engaging for our daughter: He is warm and joyful.  He has wonderfully fun stories about acquiring each instrument.  He shares his deep knowledge of the history and culture surrounding the instruments.  He plays the instruments with great skill and shares his techniques. Best of all, he connects with our daughter at each lesson.  He listens to her and tailors the lessons to her interests.  David's class has been a wonderfully enriching musical experience for our daughter and, really, our whole family.

We have been going to Dave for music lessons for years now. Two of our kids have been his students for a very long time, and we are eager to get our third started as soon as both Dave and they are ready. Our oldest has become a virtuoso guitarist and has mastered rock, jazz, and classical pieces. Our other child has become an exceptional drummer across multiple genres as well. Dave even teaches studio production and electronic music in addition to his instrumental instruction. Perhaps the best part of working with Dave is the recitals he hosts, which have a loose party vibe with lots to eat and drink, and excellent music throughout the evening. Not like any other recital I've ever been to!

My kids and I have been studying music with David for over 8 years. He has this magic closet... I just know it is a portal to an infinity space with a "just so" hook or shelf for instruments from every corner of the world... I won't look inside. We all need to believe in magic, right? The size of that closet in my imagination is still nothing compared to David's know-how, patience, and humor. He's fun, and a crazy talented teacher. Five stars!

David has taught our son since he was 4 years old. He connects extremely well with his students and provides flexibility in what and how they learn. The bonus is the semi-annual recital which is a big potluck at his house and all students who wish to perform are part of the program. We highly recommend using him.

David’s knowledge and understanding of music is electrifying. My daughter loves music. David got her playing the guitar within a year. He combined her love of singing to her playing. He put a band together with his students and they put on an amazing show. He brings the community together with his love for music.

I have taken lessons from David for a couple of years. He is an amazing teacher and incredible musician. Ask him any song and he’ll know how to play it and its lyrics. But more than that, he’s invested in helping his students love music. The recitals he puts on with us are truly labors of love. He spends hours of uncompensated time just getting his students ready for them and opens his home to our families for the big day. You can just feel how important music and music education is to him. He’s a wonderful music teacher and an even better person.

David is a wonderful teacher! My son studied guitar with him for 7 years. He only stopped lessons because he left for college. During those years, David was an important teacher and mentor. He pushed my son in the best way possible, while encouraging him and expanding his love for music. David's knowledge spans popular music, classical music, jazz, and many different instruments. He meets students where they are and guides them to learn and improve in a fun and collaborative way. My son always looked forward to lessons and he learned so much! The recitals are like small house concerts and involve lots of instruments, genres of music, singing, and great fun! Our whole family looked forward to them. As a teacher myself who also studied music in college, I couldn't recommend music lessons with David any more highly!

Dave’s a stunningly well-rounded musician with a knack for teaching. I learn something new every time I sit down with him. From working with notes on the guitar, to digital music recording – His infectious enthusiasm and encyclopedic knowledge combine to make him an ideal instructor. I’ve been to a few student recital parties at his home, and they were a celebration of music. He’s also funny as hell. Highly recommended.

Dave Stemmle is a gem of a music teacher. He instills a love of music with compassion, kindness, and more patience than anyone I know. He creates a very warm environment - which is perfect for my shy kid. The recitals showcase the tremendous growth for all of the kids in a setting that feels very community driven. My child greatly enjoyed the musical instrument tour where Dave introduced them to a variety of instruments before they settled on the violin. I can’t say enough lovely things about Dave - any kid is lucky to have him for their teacher!

I love learning from David! He helped me so much with learning to play the guitar, and our lessons are engaging and fun. He is super supportive, and he has helped me become more comfortable and confident as an artist. I always look forward to our lessons!
