Thanks to the vet having my cat sonya be put down in peace and not painfully. I would've asked if they could fix her problems but she was in too much pain for that.

Update: last few weeks we dealt with a bacterial infection, that being removed and recovery. Through it all Dr Chau and her staff were very caring and compassionate. I never stressed or worried about anything. My dog is in good hands with them. I will always trust them with his care. We have been with the practice since Jan 2021, when we brought our pup home. Dr. Chau and team have always been very proactive when it comes to our pup's health and wellness. They are very thorough and we have received recommendations regarding his allergies. I am happy to report, he has maintained good health and has not had any allergy flare ups since then. They also were very responsive to an emergency situation last year and I will highly recommend all the doctors in the practice. The staff is amazing and take care of my pup very well and are very efficient when it comes to handling appointments, billing and insurance matters. My pup actually looks forward to his vet visits :)

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Chau was very upsetting, especially during an already incredibly difficult time. From the moment she saw my cat, she commented on how sick she looked, which felt unnecessary and insensitive considering I had obviously brought her to the vet because I was concerned about her health. What upset me most was how I was told about my cat’s diagnosis. When I returned to pick her up, I was told there was no room available, so Dr. Chau informed me in the clinic lobby, with other clients around, that my cat likely had cancer, had very little time left, and that there were essentially no treatment options. Receiving news like that about a pet you have loved for many years is devastating. I believe a conversation of that magnitude should have been handled privately and with much more consideration for the owner’s emotional state. Even if a private room was not immediately available, I would have gladly waited until there was an appropriate space to have that conversation. What made the interaction even more upsetting was that, during this same conversation while I was trying to process the news that my cat likely had cancer, Dr. Chau also commented that she had been a “difficult patient” because she was scared and difficult to handle. I found both the comment and its timing incredibly insensitive. My cat was frightened, in an unfamiliar environment, and seriously ill. Animals react differently when they are scared or in pain, and I would expect a veterinarian to understand that. In that moment, I needed compassion and help understanding what was happening to my cat, not an unnecessary comment about her behavior. I understand that veterinarians regularly deal with serious illnesses and end-of-life situations, but for the pet owner receiving that news, it may be one of the most painful moments of their life. Compassion, sensitivity, and privacy matter enormously in those moments. I do want to acknowledge that the other staff members I interacted with were very kind and compassionate, and I genuinely appreciated the way they treated both my cat and me.

Dr Chau, Dr Hendrickson and Dr Kim have always taken great care of our dogs. From vaccinations and care when they are sick to bladder stone surgery. They explain everything in advance and follow-up after your visit to see how your pet is doing. I highly recommend them.

Greedy veterinary doctors. They tell you that your cat needs prescription food for the remainder of his life but wont prescribe anything after a year without you having to pay them hundreds to take your cat back in for a check up? I paid $550 for a check up and steroid for my cat

Family Vet is the most caring, comprehensive place I have ever been. They go above and beyond for the pet and the owner and it is so wonderful to take your babies to someone that seems to care as much as you do.
