Florida State University Visitor Center at a glance

Reviewers praise the visitor center for its friendly, knowledgeable staff and well-maintained, beautiful campus grounds. The guided tours are frequently described as informative and engaging, with visitors appreciating the opportunity to explore facilities like the stadium and dormitories. However, some critics note that the tour structure is inefficient, involving lengthy waits in lobbies with minimal time spent inside key buildings. Additionally, a few visitors found the campus store merchandise disappointing, while others suggested improved parking guidance for charter buses.

We’ve toured quite a few colleges, and Florida State University has been our favorite so far. The students and faculty were incredibly welcoming, and you can tell there’s a strong culture of knowledge and support throughout the campus. The opportunities available to students are impressive, and the campus itself is beautiful and well maintained. We did a lot of walking and loved every part of it - wear the proper shoes. The amenities alone are hard to list because there are so many. If your child is considering FSU, I highly recommend booking a tour. It’s one of those places you really need to experience in person.

Wonderful tour of the school. It's a long one, over 3 hours. Loved both of our guides. They answered all of our questions.

Tour guides were very friendly.. love their energy. And, it's a beautiful, well-maintained campus! Other than that, the structure of the tour is abysmal. Went into only a few bldgs.. Went into a fitness center, did a 15 sec walk in & walk out. Walked into a chem bldg & stood in lobby for over 20 mins talking. Walked thru a cafeteria. Walked into a dorm bldg, peeked into a room, and then stood in community room for 20 min for more talking. Stood under a few trees.. yep, more talking at each. Stop in front of a tent, and talked for 15. Stop in front of tennis courts & talked for 15. Way too much talking.. without SEEING useful things. Didn't see the student union, not one classroom/lecture hall.. are there whiteboards, chalkboards, or something else? Can you plug in devices in classrooms? Are lectures made avail digitally to review after class? What do the indoor social spaces look like? Nothing to see on this tour if you're interested in engineering. No labs or cool projects to see.. what are students working on? What equip do students work with? How do engineering students move between the main campus & satellite campus? Surprisingly, after over 2 hrs of this walking/standing tour, we ended the tour by a cute fountain.. a mile from the visitor center! You could wait Lord-knows-how-long for a bus back, but we opted for an over 20 min brisk walk back & beat the bus. I'm sure it's a nice school, but the tour format needs to be revamped. Detracted from the experience.
