Golden State Designs San Jose

I definitely recommend Golden State Designs. They do amazing work. I converted my garage into an entertainment room so my kids would have a fun place to hang out with their friends and I could have my living room back. They installed an attic which is great for my seasonal decorations. They added recess lights, walled off my hot water tank and washer/dryer. They installed a AC/heater that works great. They also connected me with companies to install a new insulated garage door and patio door. My family and I absolutely love our new space for entertaining friends and family. Thanks to Golden State Designs we have a lovely new addition to our home. 5 stars!!

The whole bathroom renovation was stress free and the results exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!

We worked with Gad and his team on a major home renovation and expansion, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Our project included nearly 1,000 square feet of new addition, adding 3 rooms and 1.5 bathrooms, along with remodeling the entire existing space, including the kitchen. It was a large, complex project, but Gad handled it with an impressive level of professionalism, speed, and attention to detail. What stood out most was how diligent, responsive, and hardworking the team was. They truly worked rain or shine, seemingly 24/7, and still managed to keep the project on track. Our entire renovation was completed in just 6 months, which still amazes us given the scope of work. One moment from the project really captures Gad’s dedication. For several days, rain was threatening to delay construction, and naturally Gad was frustrated by anything that could slow progress. Instead of simply waiting for the weather to clear, his team showed up with a massive tarp, hung it over the construction area, and kept right on working. I honestly wish I could post the picture because it perfectly shows the kind of commitment and problem-solving they brought to the job every single day. What makes Gad especially impressive is that although he works incredibly fast, he never sacrifices quality. If something is not right, he will stop and make sure it gets fixed properly. A great example was during our kitchen renovation: Gad noticed that the two countertop slabs had a slight color mismatch—something that would have been very easy for most people to overlook. He caught it immediately and worked with the vendor to get the correct slabs, making sure our kitchen turned out exactly right. That level of care made a huge difference in the final result. We also made many changes along the way, as homeowners often do during a big renovation, and Gad and his team were always patient and accommodating. They worked with us through those changes without making the process feel difficult or overwhelming. Last but definitely not least, Gad’s experience navigating city requirements and guidelines is truly unmatched. We passed almost all of our inspections with the Los Altos Planning Department on the first go, which speaks volumes about his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism. If you are looking for a contractor who is fast, meticulous, experienced, responsive, and deeply committed to getting things right, I would recommend Gad without hesitation. He and his team delivered a beautiful result on a very large project, and we are truly grateful for their hard work.

I worked with GAD and GSD to design and spec out an ADU for our home. The project was very challenging with space issues and other constraints. GAD and his team were extremely helpful – they were knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. Their creativity and flexibility to include our unique concerns made for a great experience and workable design. We have been looking at ADU and expansion options for 3 years, with many different companies, I would highly recommend GSD. Bill R

Headline: Golden State Design Turned a Year-Long Nightmare into a Dream Home Restoration! I cannot recommend Golden State Design enough. Exactly one year after a disastrous roofing job left our home in ruins, we were facing a massive 5600 sq ft interior restoration project. We got bids from three other firms, and while Golden State Design was competitively priced right in the middle, they were by far the most aggressive about scheduling and ensuring a timely completion. Their commitment to efficiency was incredible—they actually doubled up the crew size to get the job done right and on schedule. A major reason we chose them was their flexibility. They were willing to start work without fully detailed interior design drawings. When we needed help with material selection, they seamlessly brought in an interior designer, Michaela, at no extra charge to us. The entire process was marked by honesty and full transparency. A major point of relief was how fair their change orders were; unlike many contractors who try to nickel-and-dime you, their pricing was always on the mark. They went above and beyond the contract, even performing extra work to fix flaws in existing lighting and re-staining some cabinets that didn't match the cabinets we had replaced, on their own initiative just to make sure the final house was perfect—all at no extra charge. The project was completed on time, on budget, and the quality of the work is simply outstanding. More than just a contracting firm, the owners, Gad and Yanov, are absolutely wonderful, genuine human beings. They approached our stressful situation with empathy and professionalism, bringing an end to a year-long nightmare with joy and smiles on their faces and ours. If I had more stars, I would award them a dozen. Golden State Design is the real deal.

We decided to work with Gad and Golden State Designs because our Architect recommended them. Our project entailed a second floor addition and a complete remodeling of the house. We were very pleased with their timeline and level of Finishes. Love our new home! Thanks guys.

Golden State Designs remodeled my entire house - renovating both bathrooms, kitchen, replacing all of the floors as well as moldings for doors, windows and crown molding. They also replaced the fireplace, front stairs and the roof and helped with mold remediation and other structural issues that came up along the way. Gad is a very good communicator and very responsive. The work was reasonably priced and I am very happy with the final results.

Gad’s team did a slplendid job - underpromised and over delivered. Once they started, they came everyday until the job was done. This came in on budget and under time.

Golden State took our custom home ideas and turned them into reality. Their civil engineering firm handled site prep, utility plans, and fire access plans without a hitch. They’re an amazing design and engineering services company for residential projects.

My family could not be more pleased with Golden State Designs. Gad and his team delivered a high standard of quality in all of their work on our ADU. Golden State also provided services that were reasonable in cost. They were transparent in their pricing and delivered a final project that was on time and on budget. They were responsive, professional, hardworking and flexible. They were willing to accommodate minor changes and adjustments throughout construction to ensure that the completed project looked and functioned great. We will be working with Golden State on future projects.
