Great job. It's nice to have a non-religious, culturally inclusive preschool option. It's held at a church campus but they go to great lengths to not just avoid recruiting but celebrate the traditions, cultures, and religions from around the community.
We just enrolled our son in GFCC and they have exceeded our expectations. You can tell instantly that the staff is highly educated and full of love and warmth. Our son went from hating school and being sad and overwhelmed all day to looking forward to going to school.
Our experience with Greenwood Forest began positively. The teachers are very caring and the director worked with us to accommodate needs particular to our circumstances. There is a lot of good at this school.<br><br>Unfortunately, the relationship began to deteriorate as our child presented behavioral challenges in the classroom, prompting more inquiry from us, as parents.<br><br>Our requests for meetings to better understand what was occuring in the class, and questions regarding behavior incidents, were met with defensiveness, dismissiveness, and a lack of empathy.<br><br>As a former educator of 10+years, I met with hundreds of concerned, emotional, even angry parents. I maintained positive relationships by listening empathetically, focusing on solutions, and never taking it personally. When their most valuable possession is in your care, parents deserve nothing less.<br><br>I will credit them with doing the best with our child, who they cared for. It was the difficult, but necessary, conversations with adults, that either went unspoken, or needed improvement.<br><br>I hope that the staff at Greenwood Forest has reflected upon our experience with a sense of accountability. Our character is measured when the going gets tough, and in that regard, they have room to grow.
I cannot recommend this place enough. I toured and researched almost 20 preschools (yea, I'm THAT Mom) before I found GFCC. But as soon as I walked in, I knew we were in the right place. I just wish I had found them sooner, because 1 year was not enough. This place is the epitome of welcoming and nurturing. All of the teachers and staff are amazing, but if you're lucky enough to have Mrs. Lisa, then I know you're in good hands. We will miss this place so much!
We love this preschool!! My son love everything about it, he is about to start his third year here and my 1 year old son will start this year too. Director and teachers couldn’t care more about kids and families, this preschool is like home for us!
I have so many wonderful things to say about Greenwood Forest (GFCC)! I have no hesitations about leaving my son in the care of the GFCC staff. We are going into his third year of enrollment and I’m constantly amazed at how much he has bloomed and what he has learned in his time there. The teachers are absolute gems, the administration is attentive and personable, and the whole school feels like a community. I love that my son is exposed to things that I can’t expose him to on an everyday basis, especially other cultures and traditions. We live about 35 minutes from the school and the commute is totally worth it for the school. I could not have asked for a better fit for our family!
We have been at GFCC for two years now and will go back for the third year. We have been incredibly happy with our experience at GFCC. The staff are all very caring and know my child by name. The playground is large and my child really enjoys her time outside. The activities change weekly and we enjoy the time and effort the staff puts into each classroom experience. We would absolutely recommend them to everyone.
My child LOVES to go to school here. Communication and support are great. The director knows all the children and has activities throughout the year. The teachers love their students like their own. It is safe and secure; clean and tidy. I’m so glad I chose GFCC.
Our daughter went to the 2s T-Th class last school year. She loved the teachers there. They had amazing activity plans. Teachers seemed to genuinely care about the kids. Classrooms were very clean and they seem to follow all hygiene protocols. Teachers shared photos of all kids activities end of the day. Overall, it is a great school where there is always something fun going on!
We love this preschool. Large playground with building surrounding like a fence.<br>My 1 yo is in the youngest class. Shes had a lot of separation anxiety. Ms Tiffany and Ms Sara, her teachers have been great at accommodating what we need to help her. Ms Elizabeth, the director, is welcoming, greets each kid, and constantly helps in classrooms. She sat with daughter several times during her adjustment period.
