We had Hector come out for a quote. My husband explained exactly what he needed (estimate for a 200 amp panel with misc outlets for a new metal building. We had already talked to TECO who gave us conflicting information so I called again to talk to the electrical manager where I explained we had permitting approval for the building plans and needed them verify so we could know the path forward. He claimed they do not do certain services like zoning approval (which should be part of the electric permitting) and was very combative and very rude. I would not recommend them for any new build electric services.

Crystal, Sorry that our manger was a bit agitated with the conversation. he tried several times calmly to explain to you the proper way to do this, but you kept insisting over and over and over... ( no excuse but the truth) that you husband gave him the information. Yes, your husband said what you wanted for the build, but we need actual specs to calculate what would actually be needed and so does permitting, as this is what the manager was trying to explain to you, you had us out way ahead of schedule. Your GC is supposed to handle the zoning. Everything else prior to getting that approval could be for nothing because they could deny you, your GC should know this. Here is some good information for you that may help. Thank you. FROM GOOGLE! Zoning compliance is handled by the permitting/zoning department and managed by the General Contractor (GC) or property owner, not the electrician. While a licensed electrician is solely responsible for pulling the specific trade electrical permit and ensuring the wiring complies with electrical codes, zoning regulations deal with land use, property lines, setbacks, and building height. Here is how the responsibilities are typically broken down during a construction or renovation project: 🏛️ The Permitting / Zoning Department The local government's zoning or building department enforces the local land-use laws. They review the project's overall site plan to ensure that whatever is being built is legally allowed at that specific address. 🏗️ The General Contractor (GC) or Project Lead The GC (or project architect/designer) handles the overall zoning approvals, variances, and master building permits. If a component of the electrical work impacts zoning—such as a large outdoor backup generator or standalone commercial lighting poles that must respect property setbacks—the GC will include these on the main site plan submitted to the zoning department. ⚡ The Licensed Electrician The electrician focuses entirely on the electrical trade scope. They submit the necessary electrical drawings, panel schedules, and load calculations required by the building department. They ensure the system is safe and physically pull the electrical permit under their own specialty license, taking liability for the work passing inspection.

Annual in-home safety inspection w/ technician, Rodel. Although I've had membership w/ Hoffman Electrical for a few years now, today was my first interaction w/ him. While prior techs have all been great, Rodel was absolutely superior in all aspects: Courteous, professional, respectful, and thorough. In fact, make him "'my' technician" for all future needs! Rodel is an outstanding representative of Hoffman Electrical!!
