Huntington Beach School of Music

Two years ago discovered the Huntington Beach School of Music and decided to give it a try. From the very first lesson, I knew we had found something special. My two young woodwind players have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Gary Gould, a woodwind specialist and true expert in the art of playing the clarinet and saxophone. His skill goes well beyond teaching basic techniques — he is a master of making the foundations of music theory approachable and interesting even to younger students. My children absolutely love going to their lessons, and they have progress in these past two years has been immeasurable. If you have an eager woodwind student looking to expand their musical knowledge, this is the perfect experience, and absolutely well worth the cost. The school itself is well run, with excellent instruction in piano, strings, voice, among other instruments. The practice rooms and performance spaces are clean and organized. There are regularly scheduled recitals which give students a friendly performance environment to demonstrate what they’ve learned. We've attended many, and have been impressed with the caliber of the performances across all disciplines. There's also an orchestra for group participation, if desired. If your student is serious about growing as a musician, it essential to supplement a school-based program with private instruction. This school most definitely has the teachers and supportive environment to nurture their abilities and help them achieve their musical goals!

Cuang is an awesome instructor

This was our first experience with music lessons, so our boys (8 and 10) were a bit nervous to start learning the violin. It’s been 6 months now, and after each lesson, they talk about how much they really enjoy it! Mr. Duncan Wong has a special gift for teaching children, as I’ve seen him be so patient with and encouraging to our boys. We’re very thankful for Mr. Wong and HBSM and would highly recommend them for music lessons!

I've been taking piano lessons here as a hobby for the past year, and I can see myself improving over time. I enjoy the lessons with my teacher and find them very inspiring.

HB School of Music has been such a blessing to our family. I sit in on every lesson and I have seen how my son (7 yo, joined in 2023) and daughter (4 yo, joined in 2024) have grown in their musical talent and love for the piano. The teachers are so patient and kind to my young kids who were just starting out. I am confident that my kids will thrive at this school, as we intend to stay for many more years to come. Also, Mr. Cuong and Ms. Mai have taken such great care of this school to ensure quality teachers, great instruments/equipment, availability and access to other events beyond the lessons (i.e., recitals and orchestra practice that take place at the school, and competitions outside the school). I'm also very impressed by this school's recent and very smooth transition to a newly renovated and spacious location on Springdale. Overall, I am beyond happy with my choice to place my kids at the HB School of Music and would highly recommend this place for both kids and adults who want to learn music!

Best music school in Huntington Beach or OC area in my opinion.

We love HB School of Music!! My son has been taking piano lessons for the past 3 years at HBSM and we’ve been so impressed with how much he’s learned in that time. The instructors are so wonderful and patient with students of all levels. I can’t recommend HB School of Music enough to anyone looking to learn a new instrument or improve their skills.
