We worked with iSolar over 2 years on 3 projects to install solar, battery backup, and an EV charger and couldn't be happier with both the process and final results. Highly recommend.

Update Sept 2026: With the high gas prices, the solar panels have officially paid for themselves. I get a credit on my electric bill each month, so it costs under $0 to pay for fuel in my two Chevy Bolt EVs, electric water heater, AC, and everything else connected to my house. Combo of EV storage charge rate and solar panels has been amazing. I am now making money on electricity. Update July 2025: The solar panels are still working over 3 years later. I love that all my electrical cost are covered by the panels and Dakota Electric off-peak EV charging program. So, my net electric cost for my home and fuel for the two cars is less than $0. Yes, the last three years I have gotten paid by Dakota electric. The panels should pay for themselves in 2-3 more years. Get the solar panels installed before the federal 30% rebate ends in December 2025. Update as of December 2023: I have received this year's final numbers and am happy to report that all of my electricity consumption has been covered by solar power. This includes the energy required to power my two Bolt EVs. I will also receive an $800 check for the surplus electricity generated by the iSolar panels. At this point, I am only five years away from ultimately paying off the cost of the solar panels and earning a profit from the electricity they produce. Furthermore, I have already covered the negative environmental impact of installing the panels. It may seem costly initially, but it's worth the investment if you can afford it. I received my federal rebate and got a substantial amount of money back with my 2022 tax return. Dakota Electric's off-peak EV charging is a crucial factor in saving money. It only costs me around $1.50 in electricity to travel 100 miles, and I always start my day with a full tank of electricity. It takes me just 5 seconds to plug in at night, and I don't have to stand outside in the cold. Update July 2023:You get what you pay for. iSolar is the best solar company in Minnesota for a reason. Don't let the big companies fool you with their fancy publications. This local Twin Cities company should not be overlooked One year after the install, I am able to provide all my electric cost needs and get a check from Dakota electric for over $600. Yes, the electric company paid me. If you remove my Dakota rebate, I still made almost $100. Summary: The cost for electricity in my house and 15,000 miles on the electric car was covered by the solar panels. Thanks to the EV storage rate, I am able to save tons of money each year. The cost of the solar panels will pay for itself in about 6 more years. Keep in mind the savings is a bonus. I wanted solar for the environmental benefits. Original review from 2022: Big company results with a small town feel. I could not be happier with iSolar. They were the only company willing to move my vents and pipes on my south-facing roof to the north side, resulting in two extra panels. 22 panels total. Justin was a great salesperson who answered all my calls immediately, unlike other companies that forced me to leave a message or make an appointment. They have a family feel to them as they work. They pull together when needed and make sure the customer is happy. Justin, the salesperson, was also one who helped with the installation. Your salesperson is also one of the installers. Yes, everyone in the company is hands-on and knows what they are doing. When there are structural needs, they call in Three Rivers Contracting to help. Larry, from Three Rivers, made sure everything looked fantastic. In fact, I will have my shed in my backyard reconstructed using Three Rivers next summer. A 30-year warranty is what sold me. A third party backs it up, so if iSolar goes out of business, you are still covered. They have competitive pricing; I had other companies with lower quotes but picked iSolar because of their excellent customer service and quality work.

I've been really happy with iSolar. Back when I was shopping for a solar installer in 2022, their sales presentation and overall way of working stood out from the rest, straightforward, no pressure, just a clear breakdown of what I'd be getting. That's what sold me. They were easy to work with and adjusted without complaint to my needs. The install itself was easy. 30 Q Cell 400W panels with Enphase IQ8 microinverters, 12 kW system, and the crew got it done with minimal disruption. It's been running smoothly since, producing right around what they projected. LOVE the ease of the system! Recently, I reached out about adding a battery and filled out their contact form. The co-owner called me back within an hour to talk it through. Instead of just pushing a sale, he laid out the options and gave me the information I needed, including current Xcel pricing strategies and local inspection guidelines, to make my own call. He made it clear they'd support whatever I decided, whether that meant moving forward or holding off. That kind of honesty, years after the original sale, says a lot about how they do business. They even reach out every bad storm to make sure things are in operating order, which I appreciate them going that extra mile. If you're in MN and looking for a solar installer who's straightforward from the sales pitch through years of ownership, iSolar is a great choice. I have no reservations in recommending them!

We have had the pleasure to work with iSolar a couple of times now, and our respect, and even affection for this group of fine individuals has grown-and-grown. As consumers, we have to be careful these days to properly separate and push aside the profiteers, in order to find companies like iSolar, companies who are locally owned, ethical, provide exceptional value, believe in what they are doing, and who stand behind their work. Isolar installed our solar panels recently. They were incredibly helpful, professional and responsive every step of the way. The entire team was highly competent. They exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend them if you are considering getting solar panels installed. I'd give them 6 stars if I could!

I usually don’t make a practice of submitting product or service reviews, but in the case of iSolar I am compelled to make an exception. Stellar!.....is the first word that comes to my mind. From the first contact with the sales rep to the project completion, the experience has been beyond my expectations, and frankly beyond any service experience I can recall. To start, sales was prepared with a thorough presentation describing the company, the product, and the process. The sales rep was very accommodating to several course changes I made along the way concerning the solar system configuration, following up on any questions that arose. His handoff to the engineering was seamless. The management and staff at the iSolar office kept me appraised of appointment times and installation schedules. Everyone, including the installation team, ensured that I was aware of every milestone date and every phase duration, so I always knew what to expect and when to expect it. Speaking of the installation team, they’ve taken on a kind of super-hero image with my wife and I. They were up against an unusually active weather season, but their determination and persistence were incredible. The days were hot enough that the weather people were issuing heat warnings, but they pressed on (one of them fried his hand on the hot roof). They also had to dodge thunderstorm and heavy downpours. The last day of the installation they were working (on the ground) during a heavy rain (with no raingear). They pressed on for over an hour in soaking clothes. The quality of the installation is superb, the wiring (new service panel, solar hookups) was like a work of art. Everything they did is top notch and professional. When they completed their work, they canvassed the yard for stray parts…nut and bolts and the like….IN THE RAIN!! My wife and I interacted with at least six different people in the company and every single one of them exhibited this type of attitude and professionalism. iSolar……good job!

From start to finish isolar was amazing. I had gotten 6 different quotes, besides the prices, it was the equipment difference and honesty that really sold me with isolar. They didn't push with their quote and they understood what I needed.

I worked with iSolar on a suite of improvements, including a main panel upgrade for the home, upgraded electrical service in the garage for EV charging, and install of solar panels on our roof. The initial presentation was helpful, I'm very pleased with the results, and everyone I worked with was very professional.

This company is local and family own, and wow can you tell. Every step of the way they were helpful and willing to explain very complex topics in a way that never felt condescending to me and my wife. They walked us through each step and made it all feel very easy. In the beginning, we were talking to iSolar and another national company. Both good companies, but the attention to detail and local knowledge was beyond amazing and apparent from iSolar. I very much recommend using iSolar for electrical and solar needs. I know they will guide you in the right direction.
