This is a strange place. The three stars it earned because of the selection (vinyls and CDs), but access is iffy. After ringing the downstairs doorbell twice (the location is on the eight floor and you need to be let in), and calling (and getting hung up on), we were ready to leave, when a couple leaving the place let us in. The store owner offered the “5-second tour” (his description) and proceeded back to his desk at the front. So don’t expect special treatment or easy access. Just a good selection.

Easily the calmest record shopping I’ve done in the city — quiet, well lit, and meticulously organized, with separate sections for new and used vinyl plus a dedicated jazz vocalists section. They also carry CDs and concert DVDs. The owner is friendly and genuinely helpful if you have questions, but he’ll happily leave you to dig on your own. The used vinyl is honestly graded: everything I bought was a legitimate VG+ and fairly priced, with great records running between $5 and $20. One heads-up: they don’t take American Express, but otherwise checkout was smooth.

Liebhaberladen.
