K Contemporary

Good gallery with a couple of exhibits, some interesting stuff. I would say worth checking out—very solid for a free gallery.

Whenever we travel, my wife and I make a point to seek out local art and galleries. Denver has a huge art scene, including areas like RiNo, but surprisingly it took us a while to find a gallery that really connected with us. Then we walked into K Contemporary. From the moment we arrived, the experience was completely different. We met the owner, Doug Kacena, who immediately apologized that they were in the middle of taking down an exhibition. Instead of simply telling us to come back another time, he did the exact opposite. Because we had traveled to see the gallery, Doug personally took the time to walk us through the space, explain the artists and pieces, and even share parts of his own personal collection. To say Doug has an eye for art would be an understatement. Virtually everything we saw was exceptional. The curation felt intentional, sophisticated, interesting, and incredibly consistent. We found ourselves wanting to buy just about everything we looked at. What made the visit even more memorable was Doug himself. He did not just point out pieces; he explained the artists, the stories behind the work, and what he personally saw in them. That perspective turned what could have been a quick gallery visit into one of the highlights of our Denver trip. K Contemporary was exactly what we had been searching for. We now follow the gallery closely and genuinely hope that one day we will be fortunate enough to become the steward of one of the pieces Doug represents. If you appreciate contemporary art and find yourself in Denver, K Contemporary should absolutely be on your list.

K Contemporary has become one of the key galleries in Denver, with a growing national reputation. Doug Kacena, the owner/director, is a significant artist himself and has positioned the gallery as a venue for cutting edge contemporary art, featuring both established artists and strong emerging voices. Multiple artists introduced or championed by Doug have gone on to develop national and international reputations The gallery is in an historic building which offers high ceilings and unobstructed walls, suitable for the display of many large-scale pieces. Doug is very effective at promoting his artists and often takes booths at major national and international art fairs. He has also opened a gallery branch in Santa Fe to complement the Denver gallery. I've been introduced to many significant artists at K Contemporary and always look forward to Doug's exhibitions. Doug's condo is directly above the gallery and is stuffed with art. It is sometimes available for viewing during gallery openings. Otherwise, if you stop by the gallery during a quiet time, ask to see it. This gallery is a special place and a real Denver treasure. Doug is a fascinating guy and very knowledgeable as are all of the staff.

I visited the Santa Fe showroom ands it was a nice place to visit. Clean modern and spacious. I will visit Denver’s showroom later Staff was knowledgeable ands professional. Parking was hard to find.

Beautiful little gallery with the friendliest people around! The staff are very knowledgeable and you can tell they're passionate about what they do which makes all the difference. Can't wait for the next opening! <3

I stopped by K Contemporary while on a visit to Denver this past spring not knowing what to expect. I introduced myself to Jennifer when I arrived. She could not have been more welcoming. I let her know I was a graduate student working on my MFA in studio art and was excited to visit K Contemporary. We had a lovely conversation about the artists represented at the gallery. She showed me around and gave me an immense amount of information about the works we were looking at. I left feeling inspired. After my trip, I reached out to the gallery and purchased a small Daisy Patton painting from the gallery. I hope I can make it back out to Denver again to pay another visit to this gallery.

It's truly a must-visit for art lovers and casual explorers alike.
