Update: The gym later reached out through mutual contacts and said they have taken steps to prevent this situation from happening again. I appreciate the follow-up. I’m leaving this review up because the interaction genuinely made my first visit uncomfortable, but I hope future guests have a better experience.
My first visit was uncomfortable due to an interaction at the front desk. I was briefly on the phone with a friend to find my way in when a staff member stopped me and spoke in a condescending tone, even telling me to get off my phone. During the interaction, he repeatedly mentioned having ‘culture shock’ and made comments about how cultural background can influence behavior, which felt unnecessary and inappropriate. I understand there are check-in procedures, but this could have been handled much more respectfully.

I attended Kendall Square CrossFit for about a year and couldn’t recommend it more highly. From day one, the community was incredibly welcoming — friendly members, supportive coaches, and a no-ego environment that made it easy to show up and work hard.
The workouts consistently pushed me beyond what I’d do on my own, and the range of experience in each class meant there was always someone nearby to chase or pace with. The coaches strike a great balance between being laid-back and ensuring good form and safety, which helped me build strength and confidence without injury.
I recently moved out of Boston and will genuinely miss this place. If you’re looking for a great CrossFit gym in the Cambridge area — whether you’re brand new or experienced — KSCF is the spot!

I completed my on-ramp this week with coach Mario. I must say he is the absolute best. If my experience with him is what I have to look forward to at this box, I cannot wait! After having two kids back to back and developing diastasis recti, resulting in a weak core; I absolutely feared working out and trying CrossFit again. I pushed myself to tried a box in Charlestown in 2021 and my fear was affirmed. I was intimidated immediately and did not return. Almost 2 years later I found this box and emailed Jared. Jared was very professional and prompt via email. He explained their process and set up my on ramp with coach Mario. It has been the absolute best decision I’ve made in starting my journey back to a healthy me. In my first session Mario sensed my nervousness and addressed it in the kindest manner. I shared my fear and worries. He explained the importance of safety and meeting everyone where they are along with what the on ramp session are for. He is knowledgeable and does a great job explaining and demonstrating all the fundamental crossfit movements. He quickly modified everything while challenging and encouraging me. He made even the hardest workouts enjoyable and fun! On my last session coach Kiera joined us while shadowing him. She was very helpful to me and well informed. I’m so grateful Coach Mario was my reintroduction to CrossFit. Everyone I’ve come across so far has been very chill. This box is such a great vibe! I am thrilled about this journey for myself and trust that becoming a part of this amazing community will certainly help me achieve all my fitness goals! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend this box to everyone and more importantly to anyone who doesn’t know what to do in a regular gym, like myself.

Dropped in here for a few days while visiting Boston. Jared is an extremely knowledgeable coach and gave me a lot of useful pointers on my handstand push-ups, among other things. I love that you also get access to the rest of the athletic club with the drop in fee!
