Parking on the side of the road. The open space is essentially fire roads and fire breaks in the hills below the zoo. A goat herd is being used to control grass and brush, so expect the area to smell like a barn. There are also coyotes present and may be a risk to smaller animals.
Didnt have anything to do .So this was the best things take a walk
This is a main causeway for mountain lions, Bobcats and I'm assuming deer based on previous mentions. Came up on 2 fresh kills(Turkey, I believe.) at the trailhead my first visit. There's a petition to stop the expansion of the Oakland Zoo infringing on one of the last Natural Areas left in the bay area. It's tragic.

One star because gps took me to a different place. I parked in residential area ,took what appears to be fire trails. Grass was so overgrown with foxtails. Nothing was green. Nothing looked like the other photos. Creepy.
