Extremely disappointed with the representation I received. My wife and I paid thousands of dollars and felt we were left without support when we needed it most. When a conflict of interest arose, she told us what the conflict was but never clearly explained, before withdrawing, what she could and could not discuss with us. This was our first experience with anything like this. We believed she was still my attorney and that we could speak openly with her about my case. Afterward, when we tried to find new representation, multiple attorneys told us they had spoken with her and then declined to take our case. I cannot say what was discussed, but it made an already stressful situation even more difficult. Most upsetting was my immigration interview. I am an Israeli Jew, and I felt the immigration officer belittled and treated me with hostility because of my background. My attorney sat behind me and did not advocate for me or intervene. I felt completely alone in a moment when I expected my attorney to stand up for me. After spending thousands of dollars, I expected clear communication, guidance, and advocacy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Our experience with Carolyn was extremely disappointing and painful. She disengaged from our case citing a “conflict of interest,” yet never once explained that she was limited in the advice or representation she could provide. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she simply terminated us as clients - leaving my husband without his green card for over two years while the case remained completely stagnant. During his immigration interview, my husband was berated and belittled by an immigration officer in an openly biased, racist manner. Carolyn did nothing to intervene, protect him, or advocate for him. She sat silently and allowed it to happen. Afterward, when we tried to seek new counsel, it appeared that she actively interfered with our efforts. One attorney even told us he would take the case, but after speaking with Carolyn, he suddenly declined and said it was “not a good fit.” To make matters worse, when our new counsel requested our entire case file - using a signed release authorization specifically permitting full disclosure - he was only sent a couple of documents instead of the complete file. Withholding the majority of our records caused additional, unnecessary delays in an already prolonged and stressful process. We ultimately sought new representation, and I’m incredibly grateful to say that after nearly three long years, my husband has finally received his green card. While we are beyond relieved that this chapter has finally come to an end, I still feel it’s important to share our experience honestly so that others can make an informed decision when choosing representation for something this important. Overall, we felt completely unprotected, dismissed, and abandoned. No one should ever have to endure what my husband did especially not with the attorney hired to defend him choosing to sit silently beside him instead of doing her job.

We are so grateful for Carolyn, Cora, and the rest of the team! My husband started his visa process 10 years ago.
