Divorce was without question the most miserable experience of my life, and Jay was so much more than just a smart, knowledgeable, and responsive lawyer. He told me what I needed to know but also said what I needed to hear on more than one occasion. Jay took the time to get to know me as a person and took care to offer counsel that was mindful of my values and priorities; taking his advice ironically resulted in him making less money on more than one occasion. He has somehow managed to be an excellent divorce lawyer and a truly decent and empathetic human being at the same time. Jay even managed to interject some humor into the situation in the darkest moments. He helped navigate the often emotionally charged and contentious process so expertly and professionally that my ex wife admitted on more than one occasion that she wished her lawyer was more like mine. Her lawyer was often unresponsive to communication and late or absent to court appearances; Jay generally got back to me within an hour whenever I texted, emailed, or called (unless he knew I needed some time to cool off and then he kept me waiting for my own good), was usually early or right on time, and proactively communicated on rare occasions when factors beyond his control delayed him. When your long term emotional, relational, and financial well being is on the line (and believe me it is), having Jay in your corner is without question money well spent. (I'd say priceless, but let's face it we managed to put a price on it. Couldn't resist busting his chops a little, especially since he has a sense of humor.) I highly recommend you take the step to make an appointment to meet with him, when I did I knew immediately I found my attorney.
