Don’t bother calling got referred here and nobody ever answers. The only time they do call, is when you finally complain with IEHP and file a grievance, then they want to finally pickup the phone and call you. Horribly ran practice. Thank god I was referred elsewhere and now getting great help.

I do feel I have let other families know what our experience was like but honestly I fear retaliation from the staff.

Hi Elisa, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear our front desk team made you feel welcome, and we're truly sorry your experience didn't meet your expectations. Every family deserves to feel heard, and we always encourage families to share concerns with their therapist or ask to speak with a clinical supervisor so we can address them right away. Our speech team also includes clinicians experienced in AAC devices who are always happy to talk with families. We're sorry if that support didn't feel available, and we would welcome the chance to talk with you directly. Please call us at (951) 340-0431 so a member of our leadership team can connect with you personally. Warmly, The Leaps & Bounds Team

Based on our experience, this organization’s public image as a nonprofit dedicated to helping children with disabilities does not match the reality we experienced as a family. What is especially troubling is the disconnect between the organization’s mission and how families with more complex needs are treated. If an organization wants to present itself as a nonprofit serving disabled children, it should be held accountable to that message. Families deserve transparency about which disabilities and support needs they can realistically accommodate, rather than discovering only after enrollment that their child is considered too difficult to support. For families considering this organization, I would encourage you to ask very specific questions upfront about accommodations, cognitive disabilities, behavioral or communication needs, and what happens when a child requires more individualized support. The word “inclusive” should mean something more than a marketing slogan.

I am deeply disappointed by how this organization handled my son’s participation in its adaptive horsemanship program. When I asked about reasonable accommodations related to his cognitive disability, I was told that accommodations were only available for physical disabilities. That distinction was extremely concerning and left us feeling that his disability was being treated as less legitimate or less deserving of consideration. What makes this even more disappointing is that this treatment does not align with the organization’s claim of being an inclusive organization. Inclusion should mean more than welcoming people through the door—it should mean making a genuine effort to understand and support individuals with different disabilities and needs. Instead, when I advocated for my son, the response felt dismissive, patronizing, and unnecessarily adversarial. Rather than working collaboratively with me to determine whether there was a reasonable way to support him, I was ultimately told that they could no longer accommodate him on any day of the week. Given the circumstances and timing, this felt less like a legitimate inability to accommodate and more like a passive-aggressive way of removing my son from the program because I spoke up for his needs. The overall attitude we experienced was incredibly disappointing. Instead of compassion, flexibility, and a willingness to listen, we encountered an approach that felt judgmental and dismissive—very much the opposite of the welcoming and inclusive environment they promote. Parents should never have to choose between advocating for their child and having that child remain welcome in a program. A child with a cognitive disability deserves the same dignity, respect, and genuine consideration as any other participant. I hope this organization takes a serious look at what inclusion actually means and examines how it treats families who request accommodations for disabilities that may not be physical. Saying you are inclusive means very little if families are made to feel unwelcome when they ask for their children’s needs to be accommodated.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We respectfully disagree with several characterizations in this review. Our organization has proudly served children with a wide range of physical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges for many years. Inclusion has always been central to our mission. However, inclusion does not mean that every program is able to meet every individual's needs, nor does it require us to modify the fundamental nature of a program or compromise established safety standards. We carefully consider accommodation requests and work hard to support participant success within the scope of the services we provide. At times, after thoughtful review, we may determine that a particular program is not the appropriate fit for a participant's needs. Making that determination is never a reflection of the value of an individual, the legitimacy of their disability, or a family's advocacy efforts. Rather, it is a responsible decision based on participant welfare, program structure, available supports, and the safety of everyone involved. We are particularly concerned by the suggestion that cognitive disabilities are somehow viewed as less deserving of support. That assertion is simply not consistent with our mission, our daily work, or the thousands of children and families we have served over the years. Because we are committed to protecting the privacy of the children and families we serve, we will not discuss the details of any individual's participation publicly. We can, however, say that program expectations, participation requirements, policies, and available accommodations are communicated to families and applied consistently. While we recognize that this family was dissatisfied with the outcome, we stand behind our efforts to communicate openly, operate within the scope of our services, and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants, staff, volunteers, and animals. We wish this family and their child nothing but the best moving forward.

We are so grateful for all the hard work and dedication that Yolanda Perez-Soto puts into teaching our son, Noah, in speech therapy. She has such a patient, caring, and encouraging approach that truly makes a difference. We’ve seen Noah grow in both confidence and communication skills thanks to her creative methods and consistent support. Yolanda makes learning fun and engaging, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about her patients progress. We couldn’t ask for a better speech therapist for our son—thank you for all that you do!
