There was limited seating with many students on laptops when I went around 1pm on a Friday in September. We were still able to find two spots at the bar by the giant, unique espresso machine.
The book sales person was an absolute joy to geek out with about birds.

This was a great little bar that I stopped at for a cocktail after a long day of meetings.

Big fan of the pandan latte. Vanilla and pistachio kind of flavor, for those that haven't tried it.

Revised down. Not my fault you left the door open. 6 minutes to 10 and I got the heavy sigh. Pouring rain and still not OK to wait inside for 6 minutes.
I really wish I could give them five stars:/ this place is amazing in regards to ambiance and honestly even quality of food/drinks. However we had an awful experience with their manager/owner recently. We rented their private space for our monthly book club meeting because we were looking for a new place to meet. We originally didn’t want to pay the $25 /hour rental fee but did because we want to support local businesses. When we arrived we quickly realized it was Badger game day downtown- our fault for not knowing. Leopold’s had a sign for $50 (😳) parking in their lot for the game, so my partner and I parked in their lot and immediately checked in with the front when we entered. The man that we were told was in charge was hostile from the start. I let him know we had rented the book nook and that we had one car parked out front, wanting to ensure that we wouldn’t get towed. He immediately responded “well I guess I’ll let it slide this time but tell your friends not to park here”. Those were the first words out of his mouth to me, I thought he was joking honestly. I can understand being overwhelmed with Badger game day, but we had literally just walked in the door. He then reminded me that the book nook rental was only for an hour and that our car would need to be moved promptly. At this point I wish we could’ve just gotten a refund and left. We tried to make the most of the experience and honestly it was good otherwise, but expecting someone to pay $75 just to walk in the door and have a room in the basement for an hour is absurd. And then obviously as a group we paid at least $30 more in coffee. Oh! And 20/60 minutes we had the space rented for was spent waiting for our coffee because they were so busy- which normally wouldn’t be a big deal if we weren’t going to be rushed out of the place. They also had an obnoxiously loud DJ in the bar area for the game? Very interesting mix of vibes given it’s a bookstore.
Leopold’s is a really cute place to hang out, especially for people who don’t like the typical party scene, but this experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
