Masterpiece Solar

I’m leaving this review now that it has been nearly a year since my solar project was completed, which I think gives me enough perspective to fairly evaluate the experience.<br><br>Things I wish I had known: Masterpiece Solar is essentially a solar broker. They act as a middleman and connect you with a solar contractor to complete the installation. While I would have been willing to accept the additional cost associated with having a broker if there were a meaningful benefit, I ultimately felt there was very little added value.<br><br>The contractor they paired me with was Clay Solar. In my experience, the company was poorly organized and cut far too many corners. Throughout the project, everything felt rushed. They even acknowledged that they were rushing projects in order to complete as many installations as possible before the expiration of the tax credits.<br><br>The biggest issue came when it was time to get the system fully operational. The day before the inspection, we needed to simulate a power outage to verify that the system would properly operate on battery backup. At that point, Laz, the lead at Clay Solar, was unable to get the inverters communicating properly with the batteries.<br><br>I ultimately stayed up that night, went through the manufacturer’s instructions myself, and figured out how to get everything working. At that point, I essentially had to finish commissioning the system myself. I was also told, in effect, that I would need to work directly with the equipment manufacturer on some of these technical issues.<br><br>To be clear, the system itself has been running completely fine nearly a year later. My criticism is not that the solar equipment doesn't work. My concern is the quality of the installation process, organization, commissioning, and support.<br><br>In my experience, Clay Solar is capable of installing solar panels on a roof, but I would be hesitant to recommend them for a more technically complex system involving multiple inverters, batteries, and backup functionality—unless you are technically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting and working directly with the manufacturers yourself.<br><br>Ultimately, my negative experience falls on Masterpiece Solar. They were the company I hired to organize the project and coordinate the installation. I expected them to oversee the contractor, make sure the system was properly installed and commissioned, and keep the project on track.<br><br>Instead, I felt like I essentially paid for a middleman who provided little more than what I could have gotten by finding a solar contractor directly.<br><br>If you're considering using Masterpiece Solar, I would strongly recommend asking who will actually be installing your system, who is responsible for commissioning it, and exactly what Masterpiece Solar's role will be once the equipment is installed. For a simple solar installation, this may not be a major issue. For a more complicated system with batteries and backup power, I would make sure you have someone involved who truly understands the equipment from the panels all the way through the inverters, batteries, and backup system.

Masterpiece Solar with Synergy Solar did a great job installing our solar system. I am very happy with the system. I feel great to use sun light to power my house and I look forward to my electricity bills every month. In the long term, this is a wonderful step forward for everyone!

Josh has been extremely supportive with our recently completed Solar installation by Synergy Solar. From quote through installation and commissioning and afterwards, Josh is always there. Enclosing pictures from the projected production and a month to date actual reported (from the app) results.<br><br>Thanks to Josh for his straight-forward projections and support during the design process, pushing and pulling the location for the panels for best efficiency. I think we reached a good outcome.<br><br>That's pretty close to what I tell my friends. Extremely happy with my experience with Josh and Masterpiece Solar. My system was installed within the timeframe and budget. Josh is very knowledgeable with solar systems and helped us with recommendations on the best placement of panels and components. The Masterpiece team walked us through the entire installation process to include being available after the installation when I had questions on the mobile app and things that I had forgotten.
