McKay Irrigation Systems

We had this company install our irrigation system years ago. It was does professionally and efficiently and we've been satisfied. They use high quality materials and understand how best to irrigate so your plants thrive. But I must say the unique thing about them is their after care. I have called many times for problems that weren't caused by them and not only to they respond quickly but they show up right away and repair the problem. Customer service is practically a thing of the past, but not with this company. I cannot say enough good things about them and I highly recommend them.

I did not choose to work with them BUT the owner was super cool! His systems are out of my budget and figured that out quickly. None the less, he spent at least 10 minutes discussing my project, offered some great advice was very helpful. On a bigger project, he'll be my first call. I was going to give them 4 stars, since I didn't do biz with them. That seemed unfair. It's a 5 star experience, for me. And my gut says it would be for most customers who had the work done.

Sherman is super responsive, and there is constant communication when you work with Mckay. I needed to replace an old sprinkler system to prepare for a month-long trip to Japan and didn't have much time (about three weeks until the trip). Sherman went out of his way to squeeze us into their busy schedule, and sure enough, they completed it in time. As a result, I had a stress-free trip to Japan without worrying about our lawn or flowerpots drying up. When Sherman gives you a quote, he is very transparent and explains what will happen if you decide to work with him. They install a high-end sprinkler system that you can control using an App on your smartphone or a computer. His quote might be a bit steep compared to other companies/contractors; however, it is worth every penny! Excellent communication, top-notch system (I controlled the sprinkler system in California from Tokyo), which automatically adjusts the watering schedule according to the local weather, precipitation rate, temperature, and humidity. After my return from Japan, my lawn had a minor brown spot. I texted Sherman, and 3 seconds later, he called back, saying he would personally visit to fix the issue no matter what it may be. Sherman and Julio (two company owners) and two other crew members came and fixed the minor issue in no time. This type of customer service AFTER the project is complete is unmatched. I highly recommend working with McKay Irrigation!

McKay Irrigation Systems Review I avoid doing revues, but McKay Irrigation Systems are absolutely the best. Professional, thorough, affordable and an absolute pleasure to work with. Sherman and his partner Julio know their stuff and will walk you through what is the best scenario for your drip system (they are also available to do other garden associated tasks). I did my due diligence looking at the competition, and concluded McKay Irrigation Systems had the best reputation. They've earned it!

These folks are amazing! I recently completed a sizable remodel and needed to expand my irrigation system around the driveway and in a a new courtyard area. As part of the remodel, I'd consulted with a landscape designer to expand the irrigation system and help with plantings. That idea fell flat when the designer had her own ideas and didn't want to hear about any of mine. When the remodel was complete, I contacted McKay Irrigation to expand my existing sprinkler system. Sherman McKay took the time to educate me about the types of systems that McKay builds (Netafim Techline CV). His partner, Julio, checked out the specifics of my job, and they were able to give me a verbal quote on the spot. By the time Sherman and Julio left, I'd decided to replace my entire system with a McKay Irrigation one. The system was installed under the direction of Julio, and was complete prior to the estimated installation time. Irrigation was installed in pots, raised beds, along the fence lines, a back lawn and my front yard. The team cleaned up everything (and there was a lot of digging!). Sherman was interested in my ideas for planting the new beds (from the remodel), and introduced me to Margarito, who often helps Sherman's customers with landscape. Within days of my irrigation system being installed, Margarito's team planted with my choices of plants - a vision that Sherman and Margarito helped me to fine tune! The irrigation system itself is high tech and able to be controlled via my desktop computer, iPad, or iPhone. If I have a question about anything, Sherman is only an email or text away. Having a "partner" to help with my irrigation and landscape is invaluable. My plants, old as well as new, are thriving. As a relative "newcomer" to the East Bay, I'm delighted to have found the folks at McKay Irrigation! It doesn't get any better than this!

Sherman helped me with a major irrigation repair in my yard and thoroughly explained why the problem was occurring, and the options I had to remediate it. Sherman completed the repair in a timely manner, at a reasonable cost, and also sent me photos since I couldn't be onsite for the repair. Sherman is a class act and master of his craft. After hiring Sherman in 2015 to replace my irrigation system, he still makes an annual visit to my home to check on my system and ensure things are in order and leaks are addressed. This speaks to his integrity and the nearly extinct concept of maintaining a long-term relationship with a professional who provided a service to you. I contracted with Sherman in 2015 to install new efficient drip irrigation to my front and back yards. I was sick of issues of weak connections breaking and consistently faulty nozzles and sprayer heads. Regularly calling a handyman or fumbling with trying to replace nozzles/sprayers myself was a constant theme. Finding someone who made it their business to specialize and really understand the finer points of irrigation felt like its own project. Sherman came out for a thorough consultation and his passion about irrigation and gardening quickly became evident. He was knowledgeable on the current efficient systems and technology. Due to my budgetary limitations, he was willing to work with me on pricing to install a great new system. Upon completing the irrigation job, he took some spare time to show me the correct way to prune my grapevine, and proceeded to complete the pruning as we were talking. What really stood out about Sherman was his attendance, availability in communication, personability, and his patience with my *slightly* compulsive need for constant educating on how things work. Another glowing note: Sherman provides an extinct form of old-school customer service: a commitment to being a permanent resource in the interest of my system and my garden as a whole. He has made tweaks to the timer and system as needed, he offers his time and energy to answer irrigation and landscaping questions, and has said he would be there as things come up in the life cycle of my system. May you get lucky and find yourself partnered with Sherman on your irrigation enterprise. He's a keeper.

Mckay irrigation has been fantastic. They installed a new system at our house despite a lot of difficult sections. Our yard has never looked better and they continue to help us maintain no matter the garden additions we make. They’re incredibly prompt and always responsive. Sherman and Julio are highly recommended.

McKay Irrigation provides top quality systems that make your garden easy to maintain! They installed a large complex system on multiple areas for us including a large vegetable garden, rose garden, herb garden, olive grove, landscaping and fruit trees. Even after the installation they have been very responsive and helpful. Any time I reach out to them they respond immediately and come back as needed. I highly recommend them.

Sherman replaced an older irrigation system with a fabulous new system: 8 sprinkler zones and 1 drip zone. It included a Hydrawise controller that links with wifi. Scheduled watering is easily carried out on a pc or tablet app. The controller retrieves weather information locally so if it rains, scheduled watering won't occur. Recently a deer broke a small section of the drip system and Sherman promptly repaired it at no cost.
