MIT Recreation - Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center

I purchased a cable machine and JP Cohen promised me that the machine was in stock before i made the purchase. After i paid i found out that the machine was not in stock. JP then gave me a demo machine and the device to move cable was sticky and now fell off. I also purchased cable machine parts and have not received them for over 5 months. I have still not received them and get no information from JP and he just goes completely out of touch.

The recreation center staff are an extremely unprofessional group who seem to have no idea what they're doing, and when they do have an answer, they prioritize rigid policies over basic humanity and common sense. We purchased a family membership specifically so we could take our kids swimming after school. On the very first day after purchasing the membership, we were kept waiting for 15 minutes because the staff claimed it was an individual membership. The issue could only be resolved when their supervisor intervened. Then, the very next day, we arrived at the pool with our kids and were told that children under 18 are not allowed in the pool on weekdays between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. This policy was never mentioned when we purchased the family membership, even though the staff saw that we were there with our children. It is also not listed on their online schedule. I explained that I had taken a half day off work and picked my kids up from school early specifically so we could go swimming. That didn't make any difference. I also pointed out that the pool was practically empty, with three lanes completely open. Still, the only response I got was that they "understood" my frustration. But that kind of understanding is not helpful. If you truly understood the situation, you could have used some common sense and allowed us to swim. No one would have been inconvenienced or harmed. Instead, we left with two extremely frustrated kids who said they never want to come back to this pool again. This is not the kind of experience you expect after purchasing a family membership.

I was only spectator at the pool for a few days, so it's hard to rate whole complex. Clean facility, parking may be pain during certain times. There is one big mishap in pool design. Wall above/along lane 1 angles at some point & most of the swimmer being not familiar with it had a big problem while swimming backstroke. They would fallow lights line which also curves and that was taking them off to side in many cases during the meet. Kinda unthinkable mistake in designing, which was very surprising no one picked up - MIT by the end of day, isn't it? ;) Accept that, all sides we were able to visit-very nice&clean, good amount of seating.

No parking, hard to find, tough to drop off people

Good spot overall. However, the Badminton court is not worth the day pass
