Everyone is super nice and they helped my daughter confidence build up . From just 1 day of lessons my daughters voice started getting better :)
We’ve had such a great experience with Music on the West Side! Their team worked with our Summer Program children at La Esperanza and helped them prepare for a wonderful end-of-summer concert. It was so special to see how much the children enjoyed the experience and how proud they were to perform what they had…
Beware!!!! Make sure you ask for resumes from the teachers they have on staff before you sign up!!!! There are plenty of private teachers available that actually are experts in their field that you can contact for a lesser hourly rate. I was shocked when I called to hear what they charge!!!
Amazing school that’s always gives great opportunities and focuses on child success.
Booked and paid for first appointment and they canceled last minute and didn’t offer a refund or to schedule another day. Will be notifying every musician that I know and come in contact with.
My granddaughter is 9 and LOVES her voice coach Austyn! She made her immediately feel comfortable and confident. She makes the lessons fun but you can hear the skills that she has been taught. Thank you for such a great experience week after week of voice lessons.

Hi Tamara That is such high praise! That’s actually amazing! We look forward to seeing her up on stage in no time! Jen, Music on the Westside

It was so special to see how much the children enjoyed the experience and how proud they were to perform what they had learned. We truly appreciate the patience, enthusiasm, and love for music they brought to our kids. We’re so happy to continue this partnership and bring the joy of music to children of all ages throughout our daycare programs at La Esperanza CDC and Preschool this season.
Thank you so much, Ruth! We loved working with the La Esperanza summer program kids. Their energy and excitement made the concert so much fun to prepare for. We're thrilled to keep bringing music to your daycare and preschool programs this season!

Hi Nicolle, thanks for the feedback. Our rate covers more than the lesson itself: studio space/confortable areas to wait with children, scheduling and admin support, performance opportunities, backup coverage if a teacher is out, incentive programs for student progress, and a consistent curriculum. Private teachers can be a great fit for some families, and we get that the value tradeoff isn't for everyone. We'd genuinely like to hear more about your specific experience — feel free to reach out at (505) 207-1997 so we can address it directly.
I waited over a week for a phone call, a response, a apology, or even just our refund. Nothing. So now I'm leaving this review. ⭐ 0/5 — Extremely disappointing and honestly bizarre and unforgettable experience! We scheduled a singing lesson for our 5-year-old daughter TWO WEEKS in advance. We were completely clear about her age and that we specifically wanted SINGING lessons. They asked what type of music she liked, told us private lessons would be perfect for her as a beginner, scheduled the appointment, and happily took our money. Our daughter was incredibly excited and had been looking forward to her first singing lesson for two weeks. Then, just TWO HOURS before the appointment, they contacted us asking if we wanted to switch her to instrument lessons. We politely said no, she wanted singing, and specifically asked if we were still good for our scheduled appointment. They never responded and NEVER told us it was canceled. So we drove all the way there. When we arrived, the person who was apparently supposed to teach our daughter had an incredibly emotional, animated and completely over-the-top reaction to the fact that a 5-year-old had been scheduled for singing lessons. There were dramatic hand gestures, visible frustration, and repeated comments about how the company never should have scheduled us, how someone should have called days earlier to cancel, and even how teaching singing at this age could cause “psychological” problems. Whatever that means... All of this was happening IN FRONT OF OUR 5-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER. The reaction went on and on to the point that other employees were visibly shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. It honestly looked like some kind of internal disagreement or emotional breakdown happening right in front of customers. What makes this worse is that their own website clearly advertises voice lessons for AGES 4 AND UP. They knew our daughter was 5 before scheduling us and taking our money, and specifically told us they had someone qualified to teach her. We remained polite, didn't argue, and simply left. We were specifically told our money would be refunded. They took our money, scheduled our 5-year-old for a service they advertise for her age, let us drive there without telling us the appointment was canceled, refused the lesson, created an embarrassing scene in front of our daughter, promised a refund, and then stopped communicating with us. And the teachers biggest reasoning was psychological issues meanwhile she has a breakdown in front of my five-year-old and refuses service to her after 2 weeks of excitement the irony of it all.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and I'm truly sorry for how this played out. You have every right to be frustrated and disappointed. What happened doesn't reflect who we are or how we approach music education at Music on the Westside. Our mission is to make music joyful for every student, especially young learners. Your daughter's excitement over those two weeks should have been honored, not diminished—and certainly not in the way you described. The communication failure, the unprofessional reaction in front of your daughter, and our lack of follow-up on your refund are all unacceptable. I'm deeply sorry your family experienced that, and I apologize especially to your daughter for how she was made to feel about learning. This is not how we treat families, and it's not the standard we hold our team to. We take full responsibility, and I'm personally ensuring your refund is processed immediately. I'd also like to make this right with your family directly—please reach out to me whenever you're ready, and we can discuss how we can rebuild your trust. Again, I'm truly sorry. —Jen Brewer Owner, Music on the Westside

Hi Rodney We apologize for the confusion. Your lesson is still booked for today. The originally booked teacher called in sick yesterday so we called and to let you know we must reschedule it. Then the same day we were able to confirm another guitar teacher could take his place. Then we messaged you as such and changed the teacher on your account. Please review your text messages from 18 hours ago please. All of this was delivered to you text message yesterday. Please confirm you have received them as we did receive a text from you from the same number. We do apologize for any confusion. Music on the Westside Team

Thank you so much for sharing this! We're thrilled to hear Austyn made your granddaughter feel so comfortable and confident right from the start — that connection is exactly what makes lessons something kids look forward to each week. We'll be sure to pass along the kind words to her. Thanks for being part of the MOTW family!
Matt is an excellent teacher and my son loves going to guitar and has gone consistently for a year and a half. It’s his favorite after school activity
Hi Erin Mr Matt is dedicated to seeing his young students enjoy the process of learning music. We're so happy you gave him kudos for that! It will be so awesome if we see him up on stage downtown in the Fall!!!
