Great experience! The instructor was patient and encouraging, and my 2-year-old had fun while learning basic water safety and survival skills. Highly recommend this swim class for young children.
My daughter took her first ISR lessons with Coach Baye last summer when she was a year old. I cannot recommend their program enough, they are incredibly knowledgeable about not only ISR but also meeting each baby/child where they need based on their age. Their confidence put me at ease immediately in trusting her in their care and watching how experienced they are with littles in the water. She became a pro floater and it gives us such peace of mind knowing she now knows exactly what to do all on her own. We are taking her back for their winter program to continue getting her comfortable in the water and know there’s nobody better to do that with. Thank you coach Baye and Brad!
We honestly could not be more grateful for Coach Brad Hurvitz and the incredible transformation with our son and daughter’s swimming in just six short weeks. When we started, our son was genuinely fearful of the water and very aversive to water touching his face. We never could have imagined that we would be watching him confidently swim and enjoy the water, just weeks later. The change has been nothing short of amazing and completely unexpected and now both of our kiddos can’t get enough of the water; our daughter has literally turned into a little fish! We are so thankful for the patience, guidance, encouragement, and genuine care that went into helping them get this far. We couldn’t have asked for a better coach or a better experience, so much so that we tell all of our friends and family (and sometimes even complete strangers) of his amazing coaching and method! Highly highly recommend!
When I first heard about the promise of ISR, I was honestly a little skeptical. It was hard for me to perceive that a not even two-year-old could actually float and swim, but we saw the value. Definitely want to make sure that our child is safe. It was helpful that Coach Brad was willing to let us go poolside and talk to the other parents about their experiences and see them in action. It's just a very open, friendly environment. Right away, we just saw Coach Brad teaching ISR, and we were just amazed. Our son picked it up pretty quick and started to love the water and helped us to demystify myths. For example, how using floaties for your kids actually teaches them how to drown faster, which we didn't think about but we learned here. In just six weeks, our toddler loves the water and doesn't need floaties, and now we feel confident that, bringing him to any body of water, he's gonna be good and we're having fun with him. We're so grateful for Coach Brad and the whole ISR team! Highly recommend this to anybody, and we're going to be enrolling our next child in this too.
Will be taking my 22mo son back next year. At the beginning of our 6 week course with coach Brad, I questioned if this was the right thing for us. My son cried each morning when he saw his swimsuit. Each week his swimming improved as did his love of swimming. By the end he was excited to go to swim and was genuinely proficient and confident in his swimming ability. This is definitely the way to go if you want lifesaving techniques for your kids around water.
Coach Brad taught my daughter when she was 2 years old. He was kind and reassuring when she was nervous at the beginning of lessons. However, very quickly she gained a confidence and love for swim lessons. The daily commitment quickly became what we both looked forward to most. The skills that are taught by the instructors at My Baby Swims are life saving and I was in awe daily at what they were able to teach my daughter. We will be doing maintenance sessions with Coach Brad and I look forward to starting my youngest daughter in ISR as well.
We had an incredible experience with Brad at My Baby Swims. From day one, he was consistent, kind, and confidently tailored each lesson to exactly what my son needed. When we started, my son was afraid to put his face in the water. By the end of the program, he had not only overcome that fear but had gained confidence and learned life-saving swim skills. Brad knew exactly when my son was genuinely overwhelmed and needed a moment, and when he simply needed calm encouragement to work through something difficult. As a parent, that discernment meant so much to me. Left to myself, I probably would have been too quick to comfort him instead of helping him grow, but Brad struck that balance perfectly. He was committed to seeing my son succeed, while still making lessons fun and building a relationship with him along the way. It was obvious that he truly cared—not just about teaching swimming, but about helping each child become confident and safe in the water. I’m genuinely excited for my daughter to take lessons with Brad because I trust him completely. If you’re looking for someone to teach your child to swim, I can’t recommend My Baby Swims enough. It was one of the best investments we’ve made for our family.
Thank you Nicole! Excited to see you guys next month :)
We’re in our 5th season working with Brad for our two boys, now 5 and 2.5. Both started lessons when they were around 1.5, and neither were a fan of the water out of the gate. They even cried longer than average throughout their first sessions. Despite the tears, it was amazing to see how quickly they learned and developed new skills. He works so well with kids and tailors each session to their individual needs, while also building a relationship with them and making lessons enjoyable. Our 5 year old is so confident in the water now and learning traditional strokes, and our little one has even started asking to swim. We can’t say enough good things about Coach Brad and recommend him whenever anyone asks us about swim lessons. We’re so grateful we found him and for the invaluable water safety skills he has taught our boys.
Thank you for the review, Gina. You know how much I love teaching the boys!
We couldn't recommend Brad more highly. Brad first worked with our son Richie when he was a baby and helped him learn to confidently float on his back. After we moved to Oceanside, we tried two other swim instructors closer to home. One was unreliable, and the other was careless enough to drop Richie in the water multiple times. Unfortunately, that experience left him with a real fear of the water, and he no longer enjoyed swimming. At that point, we decided the long drive back to Brad was absolutely worth it—and we're so glad we did. Over the six-week course, Richie quickly regained his confidence, overcame his fear, and started genuinely enjoying the water again. The progress was remarkable. He learned multiple swimming and floating techniques, and the transformation from where he started was incredible. What makes Brad exceptional is the balance he strikes. He has incredibly high standards and clearly knows exactly how to help children make meaningful progress, but he combines that expertise with genuine patience, warmth, and care. He's serious about teaching water safety and swimming skills, yet he always makes the kids feel supported and encouraged. That's a rare combination. If you're looking for someone who is both an outstanding instructor and wonderful with young children, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brad. He's been an incredible investment in our son's confidence and safety in the water.
Thank you, Troy. Richie was amazing this past session. He really became a fish during our time together. Excited to teach him again in the future and Tory in September. Hopefully we get them in the pool together for some races towards the end of her session :)
