My beau and I spent hours here! Such gorgeous art, and so thought provoking. Normally I would complain about the lack of information plaques, but that isn't what art is about! Art is personal, and this place understands that. Perfect experience.
Honestly, a little disappointed. While still beautiful, there's a *lot* of amateur art. I had hoped for a bit more than that. We had a nice time though. It takes about 1.5-2hrs to get through all 5 floors. Added some of my favorite art!
I went for the first time. It was very nice to see all the south artists work. I love the contemporary artists, the acultures, and the African American naif but very interesting and beautiful. The store have great gift and books, postcards and others goodies .
This is quite a lovely museum featuring southern artists. There doesn't seem to be just one type of art, but all sorts. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and just so much! Free admission Thursday for Louisiana residents, but admission isn't too bad to start with. They do have free admission to those on food stamps.…
Southern photography filled two floors of the Patrick F. Taylor building, and from the fifth-floor terrace I could see the WWII Museum across Andrew Higgins Drive. A guard reminded me not to use flash in the Clementine Hunter room. I timed it for Ogden After Hours but came earlier and had the galleries almost empty.
We spent much longer here than we expected reading the artist bios. It was well worth the $12 entry fee! Our group would visit again so see what is new on display. It was also just a short walk from where we stay in the Quarter. The gift shop was also very nice and had offerings from local artists.

This is an excellent museum. Go and get the guides tour: you won't regret it!
