In February, we contracted with OHD Studios to supply some of our crew and some of the equipment for a shoot in Columbus. All of the OHD players they paired us with were excellent to work with and very professional. We had a tight schedule and they all matched the energy and creativity of my core team. We finished the shoot day ahead of schedule. We also utilized some of their video and lighting equipment. Everything worked out great with no issues. I would easily partner with this team again.

Back in August I reached out to OHD to get equipment for a wedding that I’m going to be shooting in 2 days and they recommended me this insurance company. I had asked about putting a deposit down and was told we would take the money when I come to pick it up. I went and got a quote for the insurance and it was $245. When I got the money I went to go purchase the insurance and the next thing I know, I’m getting an email from Matt saying that the insurance company flagged you and we can’t rent you the equipment. I called the insurance company and they said they didn’t flag me, they tried to send me an email and it got sent back to them. I gave them a new email and it was sent to me. They were asking about people I’ve rented equipment from before and I wrote that I had never rented equipment because I had my own equipment that I’ve used. They said they wouldn’t insure me, but gave me 3 other insure companies to look at.

That insurance company sent me 3 other companies to try and apply for and I got one quote but wasn’t going to pay for it if I want going to get the gear. I called several other places and of course, 2 days before the wedding, the other rental companies had all their stock rented out.

Travis, as I explained to you on the phone, we were told by an insurance company that you contacted that we should not do business with you. We decided to be cautious and take their advice. This is an unfortunate situation, but the risk was not in our best interest.

My crew called OHD and spoke with a customer service rep to ensure we had the right equipment. We ended up with lights and audio not working. The audio equipment was malfunctioning and drained the batteries. When I told them about these issues they told me that they normally work with professionals and not amateurs. The owner and team told me that the batteries dying is my responsibility. Owner offered me some generic "discount" if I used them again in the future but never actually made an offer.
The owner and I spoke on the phone because he didn't like the one-star review and he said they did something wrong but largely these issues were my fault. He then followed up weeks later with an email asking me to take down my one-star review. I told him I think it accurately reflects my experience.
I spent a fortune on actors, crew, and location and the equipment I rented from OHD didn't meet basic expectations. I hope they evaluate their systems and processes because they seriously need to do better and own their mistake.

We've been thinking a lot about how this experience went down for you over the past year. And, regardless of the circumstances, we never want any of our customers to have a bad experience or fail to meet an expectation.
With this, we have started a new evaluation of our processes, and have implemented changes, including a second set of checks on orders for compatibility of equipment going out. Additionally, we are working for more clarity of how we present orders.
We've shuffled the deck on some personnel and processes to work to better assist customers and learn more about the project so we can make better recommendations. The goal is more eyes on the orders before they leave the doors.
As we continue to change processes and leadership roles here within OHD, we only hope that we can live to our goal of the customer doesn't fail.
The only way to be better is to acknowledge when things didn't go quite right. We're sorry we let you down on this one.

They gave me equipment with dead batteries and when I told them about they said it is my responsibility. Also the lights didn’t fit on the mounts they recommended. Check your gear if you rent it here.

Sorry that you had a bad experience. We do everything we can to prepare your package so that you have a successful shoot. This includes letting you pick up the gear the day before your shoot to make sure everything is in order and is exactly what you need. Mixing gear from multiple manufacturers can be tricky and sometimes requires a build out or some prep time, which we encourage.
