Very professional and did a great job
- Price assessment: Reasonable price
- Services: Interior painting

Customers frequently cite professional communication, punctuality, and thorough cleanup as key strengths of the painting and wallpapering services. Positive feedback highlights efficient scheduling and detailed craftsmanship, while the owner actively engages with a portion of the feedback. However, lower-rated reviews note a gap between sales promises and actual work quality, specifically mentioning paint oversights on fixtures and unprofessional handling of complaints or quotes.

Very professional and did a great job
The team did a beautiful job painting and wallpapering our apartment. They were very careful and efficient, and cleaned up the job site perfectly.
Thank you Ann for the review and for trusting us!
As an Interior Designer working in NY and Florida, I can most certainly give Paintworks & Decorating an outstanding review and my highest recommendation! Ryan, as the main estimator, was an excellent communicator and presented a thorough and itemized quote. Ryan's crew of one painter and two wallpapermen were prepared and professional. Although the areas were tight, they carefully and meticulously worked to complete the job in a timely manner. It's obvious Ryan employs the most qualified and skilled Master Wallpaper men and Painters. My client is extremely pleased, and so am I as their designer. I’m so pleased I chose Paintworks & Decorating for this job.
Thank you Karen! Looking forward to the next project
We had a great experience with Paintworks. The team was quick, professional, and completed the job promptly and on schedule. Ryan and the rest of the crew were exceptionally helpful, responsive, and professional throughout the process. Our apartment looks great!
Thank you Mike! Enjoy the place!
Ryan and his crew did an amazing job restoring all of my stainless-steel appliances back to like-new condition with a beautiful shine. My cleaning lady had accidentally used the wrong aluminum cleaning product, which badly discolored and damaged the stainless-steel surfaces. Ryan and his team were able to restore the finish and bring the shine back. The difference is incredible!
Thank you, Johnny for the review and the work! Let us know if you need anything in the future we will be here
Used this company some years ago and agree with another review the language that was used by Ricky was not professional.
I know this company has received many excellent reviews, which is why I chose them. Unfortunately, it would be an understatement to say that I was extremely disappointed with the level of service I received. I am still finding paint on my brand-new hardwood floors, air conditioners, kitchen cabinets, and door hinges. Paint is also already flaking off the bottom of my bathroom door. The painters did not even take the time to remove the outlet covers or doorknobs—a standard practice and something I specifically requested. The company offered to return and correct the issues, but allowing them back into my home would only cause me further stress because I no longer trust that they will not damage something else. I was also told that the paint would simply come off “with water,” which is absolutely not true. That response only added to my disappointment and reinforced my concerns about their professionalism. Given this company’s reputation, I expected a much higher level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail. This experience fell far short of those expectations.
Thank for the feedback. We apologized and took accountability for the issues. We offered to clean and touch up. We gave you a $2300 discount. The paint is water based and almost all surfaces can be cleaned of paint with warm water and a cotton rag.
Asset Electric Corp is a licensed electrical contractor in Brooklyn (License #13207), and drywall and plaster repair comes with the territory when you're running new circuits or doing an electrical panel replacement. We bring in Paintworks for the patching and painting behind us, and the results speak for themselves. Ryan and Rick handle drywall patching, skim coating, and interior painting across Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. They show up on schedule, protect the space, feather the patches so the openings disappear, and leave the job site clean. Our clients regularly comment on the finish. If you're looking for a reliable painting contractor in NYC for post-construction patch and paint work, Ryan and Rick at Paintworks are the crew. Six years of running our own shop and they're the only painters we hand a job to without a second thought.
They did great work painting and putting up wallpaper. Very detail oriented and really made sure it was done well. Five stars!
Thank you for trusting us with your new place!
Ricky is fantastic at sales for sure however biggest issue with Paintworks NYC was the gap between the sales pitch and the reality of the work. We were sold a high level of attention to detail, including matching the existing finishes and textures, but in practice the apartment was largely painted the same way throughout. When we raised concerns, the response repeatedly came back to “the contract” rather than what had actually been discussed and promised during the sales process. My advice to anyone considering them is to get every single detail in writing. Most disappointing was the professionalism. At one point, language was used about having other clients with “real money” to deal with. That is simply not the kind of language or attitude you expect from a professional contractor speaking to a paying customer. They did attempt to come back and correct some of the work, but even that left items unfinished. Overall, a very disappointing experience and one where the sales promises were far stronger than the execution. Update 8/28/2026 - read the owner response and you will have an idea of what you will be dealing with. Attaching pictures of Hate Speech!!!
To be clear, Raghav did not pay for this paint job. A 3rd party signed the contract with us and paid for the services. We are only in obligation to the person that SIGNED AND PAID FOR THE SERVICES. WE COMPLETED THE JOB. We were paid in full. Raghav attempted MULTIPLE times to take advantage of the person paying for the service. The contract clearly states walls and ceilings to be painted same color same flat finish. Raghav then told us to artificially inflate the price to cover the extras that he wanted done including 2 accent walls. Accent walls are different colors that's not what the contract is for. When he complained about the existing texture on the bathroom ceiling I simply pointed to the contract that says "existing surface texture to be painted as is". Of course he didn't know that because he didn't sign the contract and therefore is not the real client! I told him to send email to our office for simple things and instead he wanted to text text text non stop bothering everyone on the team. The guy is an absolute nuisance. One of the worst clients we've had in 12 years. Advice to all vendors: actively avoid this guy! He will cost you money. He is a leech wanting everything for free non-stop. Very shady.
