Google reviewers rate Proximal50 Downtown highly, praising its clean facilities, well-maintained equipment, and friendly staff. Customers appreciate the variety of classes, personal training options, and convenient booking through the MindBody app. A recurring criticism involves weekend operating hours ending at 2 PM, which limits access for those working Saturdays. Additionally, one reviewer noted privacy concerns regarding the locker room layout, specifically the visibility into the hair dryer area from outside the room.

I am an IT professional. I want to be transparent about that upfront so you understand the physical baseline from which this journey began. I sit for a living. I have sat, professionally and with considerable expertise, for approximately twenty-seven years. I am very good at it. My lumbar region and I had an arrangement.
I contacted Proximal 50 for one specific and modest reason. I wanted to pick up my grandson without sounding like a piece of furniture being moved across a hardwood floor. That was the goal. That was the entire goal. I was not trying to compete in anything. I was not trying to impress anyone. I simply wanted to lift a small child without my body filing a formal protest with my brain.
Lexi Bata assessed my situation with what I can only describe as the calm professionalism of a structural engineer who has been handed a building report and chosen not to gasp out loud. She reviewed my injuries. She reviewed my limitations. She did not say anything that suggested she was alarmed. (She may have been alarmed. I chose not to ask.)
After fifteen sessions I am writing this review. My grandson does not know what happened. He only knows that grandpa picks him up now. He does not know what it cost. He does not need to.
You should know, however. I am telling everyone.

Brian, thank you for taking the time to share this!!
We have to admit, "my lumbar region and I had an arrangement" gave us a good laugh. But what really stuck with us wasn't the humor. It was your reason for walking through our doors.
Being able to pick up your grandson without pain may have felt like a modest goal to you, but to us, those are the moments that matter most. Helping people move better so they can fully show up for the people they love is exactly why we do what we do.
We'll be sure to share your kind words with Lexi! She has a gift for meeting people where they are, creating a plan that fits their life, and helping them accomplish goals that truly make a difference.
Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We hope there are many more effortless grandpa hugs and pickups ahead!!
I did a drop in class with Jordan and it was great. I've attended a couple a year when in town for the last several years and will keep coming back. Classes are easy to book and pay using the MindBody app. Jordan was friendly and inviting as I arrived and signed in. The gym was all set up ahead of time. The class intro and welcome were clear and easy to follow. Jordan both managed time and moved around the room coaching in a well seasoned manner.

Jordan always does a great job! Glad you enjoyed your workout and hope you drop in again soon Jessica!
Proximal is quite possibly the best executed gym with the best business plan and overall person/health approach I’ve ever encountered.
There are some decent gyms in town that bring their A game, but the owner of proximal has ignored all the expectations and created a class of her own.
The combination of physical therapy with a top notch traditional gym setup that caters to the yuppy and meathead alike is nothing short of genius.
Normally (hopefully) a gym will focus on building a person from the ground up, which works for the average person with no physical issues to overcome - but for someone like myself that spent a long stint in a wheelchair - proximal digs way deeper than ground level so that even someone facing limitations can excel.
Definitely a business built on competency and compassion that I’m happy to get to support. It feels more like investing into the success of a good friend than paying gym dues.

Oh Mic - what a review to read on our Sunday afternoon - thank you so much for the kind words. It's stories like yours that inspire and drive us everyday!
I'll give it 5 stars when hooks are installed in bathroom stalls, and a ladies locker room entrance privacy wall or screen is erected so you can't look into the hair dryer area from outside the room. LOVE going here. Great downtown location.
