We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Queen City Animal Hospital and cannot recommend them enough. From the time we started bringing our golden retrievers, Dexter and Sully, here, the entire team has consistently provided wonderful care. One of the things we've appreciated most is how well the staff got to know our boys and understood that they each have their own personalities and needs. Dexter sometimes required a little extra patience, attention, and love, and the team always met him with kindness and understanding. They took the time to understand Dexter for who he was, and we always felt that he was genuinely cared for. It was clear that the people caring for him wanted what was best for him, and that meant the world to us. Queen City has been such a wonderful part of our boys' lives, and we couldn't ask for a better veterinary team. If you're looking for people who will treat your pets with genuine compassion, take the time to understand their individual needs, and provide excellent care, we wholeheartedly recommend Queen City Animal Hospital.

The care was thoughtful and caring as always. The Vet and the Technician treated Monday with love and respect. They clearly explained their thoughts on her diagnosis and possible treatments and answered all my questions without hesitation.

sadly our family is leaving this vet. i really wanted it to work, its queer owned and we LOVE that. but the staff poorly communicates either with each and or with the clients (in my experience). it’s happened multiple times and i’ve over looked it. (a client from 2022-present). the last straw for us was when we spent 30 min waiting to check out with wailing cats and our dog (who hates the vet). and then the front desk entered the room we were in just to say they “forgot” we were waiting to check out. then they charge of course, the most out of all vets in CLT, so i’m left wondering. “if they charge top dollar, why are they not performing as if they are worth that?” the only thing that would make up for this is a formal apology and refund.

I was glad I was able to get worked in, especially as I did initially book Penny's appointment for the wrong week. It was a bit urgent to me so waiting a week would not have been ideal. Thorough and clear communication about the results as well as solutions. Dr. Black has always been a great support, offering multiple options to try out based on costs and our needs at the time. Also, Adriana is always super sweet to Penny when we come in! She gives her lots of love and attention and it makes me smile. The entire staff always goes above and beyond!

Went with a friend but am tempted to transfer my dog here. They are so helpful friendly and kind. They have treats for the pets and complimentary drinks for the owners in the lobby.

Update 10/01/2026 - I'm still so very satisfied with the care that we received. All of the staff are amazing and so very helpful with whatever my pet needs are! Mel was awesome as always. I also have to give her props for helping me to schedule the day before. I asked a lot of questions, and she answered all of them with grace and ease. Stacey was our vet tech and she was amazing. My dogs love her so much and she's good with the dogs - especially since one is an ornery old lady and the other has boundary issues. We love all the vets at QCAH and Dr. Schuljak was no different. He was great an explaining thing and ever so helpful. He really exhibited the fear free method when Stella did not want to have him looking in her mouth. all of it as there were no issues. I also loved that they didn't judge my dog for her basic girl eating habits. :) Update 01/28/2021 - We are still so happy with the service and attention that we received at QCAH. One of our dogs passed away very quickly from cancer in June 202 and for it being such an awful time, QCAH made it such a good experience (so to speak). And they've continued to treat our remaining dog like the princess she is thru tech visits for Boardatella and her annual exam. I will always recommend QCAH to anyone who is looking for a great vet that treats all pets like family. Took my pups for a happy (get acquainted) visit and to get their boardatella. Everything was great!!!! They let the dogs walk all over to get used to the place and did the boardatella in the waiting room where the pups were most comfortable. Great experience!!

I have been taking my dog to QC Animal Hospital for approximately five years. After my experience today, I will not be bringing her back. My dog developed a cough over the weekend that became noticeably worse Sunday night into Monday morning. She had recently ripped open a stuffed toy, so I considered the possibility that it was related, but she also regularly attends daycare and could have picked up a respiratory illness there. I called QC promptly at 8:00 AM Monday and was told they had an opening at 2:00 PM. I arrived promptly at 2:00. After 45 minutes with no update, I asked the front desk when she might be seen. A vet tech eventually came out approximately 20 minutes later, meaning we had now been waiting for over an hour. I explained the stuffed toy and daycare history. Before my dog was even examined, I was told that regardless, they would need to do a $350 X-ray because that was their standard protocol for a dog suspected of having kennel cough due to an influenza going around. I was then asked if I would be able to pay for it. I've spent thousands of dollars at QC over the past five years, so I said cost wasn't the issue. I was then told to wait outside in my car, which I completely understand if they suspected something contagious. However, after already waiting approximately an hour and 15 minutes, they couldn't give me any idea whether I would be waiting another hour, two hours, or longer. This was also when I was informed that I apparently had a "standby emergency visit" for 2:30 PM. That was news to me. When I called that morning, I was told they had an opening at 2:00. Nobody explained that it was a standby appointment or that I could potentially be waiting for hours. Since I live literally about a minute away, I asked if I could take my dog home and have someone call me when they were close to being ready for her. I was told no. The tech then explained that Mondays are extremely busy between regular appointments and owners whose pets had issues over the weekend but didn't want to take them to an emergency vet. Given the tone and circumstances, it felt directed at me. My dog's cough had not been nearly as bad over the weekend, which is exactly why I called my regular veterinarian the moment they opened Monday. At that point, I had enough and left. I found another highly reputable veterinary practice that saw my dog within approximately 10 minutes of our arrival. I provided the same information I gave QC. Their veterinarian examined her and determined that an X-ray was not necessary at this point. That really bothered me. After five years of trusting QC with my dog's care and spending thousands of dollars there, being told before she was even examined that a $350 X-ray would be required "no matter what" makes me question how many other things I've paid for over the years simply because I trusted their recommendations. Unfortunately, this wasn't my first experience with excessive waits or less-than-friendly attitudes at QC. I understand veterinary practices get busy and emergencies happen. What I don't understand is telling a longtime client they have a 2:00 opening, providing virtually no communication for over an hour, and then informing them they actually have a standby emergency appointment with no estimated timeframe. After trusting QC with my dog for five years, I expected better communication and some compassion when I was worried about her health. Instead, I felt like a nuisance rather than a longtime client. They've lost my business permanently. I won't bring my dog back, and I won't recommend QC Animal Hospital to anyone going forward.

Please accept our apologies for the frustration during your recent visit. We know you have been long-time clients, and we truly appreciate the trust you have placed in us throughout the years. We wanted to get to the bottom of what happened, so we spoke with the team members involved, listened to the phone call and check-in notes from that morning, and reached out to you by phone and email. We are truly sorry that we did not prepare you for the wait. 2:30 pm was the time we discussed and agreed on, but we failed to explain that it was an urgent care visit, not a standard appointment. In an effort to see more patients in need, our doctors fit urgent care visits between their scheduled appointments and day admissions, and the wait can sometimes be an hour or more. That day, we had multiple sick patients who needed the doctors' full attention, causing wait times to be longer than we would like them to be. We would also like to share more about the recommended radiographs. Our veterinary assistant discussed the possible need for them during the visit, but we may not have explained our reasoning as thoroughly as we could have. We recommend radiographs any time a patient may have kennel cough. Over the last few years, influenza has spread rampantly through Charlotte's doggy daycares, dog bars, and dog parks. For decades, a round of medication took care of most cases of kennel cough, but with influenza, that approach stopped working. Dogs returned to us with worsening respiratory symptoms, some needed extended hospitalization at specialty hospitals, and in some cases the illness was fatal. After seeing this repeatedly, we made the decision as a hospital to recommend radiographs at the very beginning, so we can catch serious disease before it becomes pneumonia. While we always offer gold-standard medicine, we would never do so for financial gain, and we respect every client's right to decline services without judgment. We are truly glad one of our colleagues was able to see you and provide the care needed. We hate to lose you after such a long relationship, but we appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can continue to grow as a hospital.

I brought my snake in on an emergency call, I was not a prior client. They were able to fit me in within 2 hours of me calling, other places were unable to take me. My snake unfortunately had to be euthanized, but I was so blown away by the level of care, professionalism, and support from all the staff. I also received a sympathy card in the mail signed by staff. I would absolutely come to them again!!
