Redmond Art Works at a glance

Customers frequently praise the studio for its patient instructors, welcoming atmosphere, and affordable pricing for pottery, digital illustration, and birthday parties. However, recurring criticisms involve limited instructional depth in some classes, erratic billing practices, and staff interactions that some visitors found unaccommodating. Additionally, several reviews note that the facility may not be suitable for very young children due to safety concerns and a lack of appropriate supervision for toddlers.

This is a long delayed review for Nathan, I’ve been a student of Nathan’s class (adult weekly pottery) for about two years and I can say with confidence that he is the best teacher in terms of both skills (he is masterful with his art) and patience with his students. I’m also a student at intermediate class and I’m learning so much from Nathan. He is a very talented artist and super kind teacher! We are very lucky to have Nathan as a teacher! Most of his creations belong to an art museum but I’m most amazed by how kind and patient he is as a wonderful teacher! Thank you for your teaching Nathan! Also everyone that works there are So kind and helpful!!

Thank you so much for sharing! We all love Nathan so much here at the studio, and are so grateful to him for sharing his skill and teaching talents with our community!

Nice little spot for pottery if that's an activity you enjoy. What knocked down 1 star is for a place so close to the new light rail station there's 0 bicycle parking/racks. Maybe that's not a shop thing, maybe that's feedback for their landlord IDK. But yeah. Bicycles be warned, either chain to a wooden fence or nothing.

Response from the owner · a month ago

Hi Gennifer- That is a great recommendation. The light rail is def a new thing we are adapting to. Thank you for biking and helping keep the crazy Redmond traffic at bay! Super glad you enjoyed your experience and we will let the landlord know about the bike rack suggestion. Also, we have a front room in studio A you're welcome to store the bike in there next time!

My kid took the beginner digital illustration summer class and loved it. The lessons were engaging, organized and explained well. They even provided a tablet and pencil (which can be a significant investment in similar classes). The instructor did a great job working along with the kids and provided them suggestions to improve in a positive way. The teacher to kids ratio was good. It was also really easy to schedule make up lessons. The staff was courteous and helpful. There's absolutely nothing to not like.

Neha, thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad your child had a great experience in our Beginner Digital Illustration class. We really appreciate you calling out the instruction, small class size, included equipment, and our team—we put a lot of thought into making classes both approachable and meaningful for our students. We hope to have them back creating with us again soon!

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF TOLD US TO LEAVE: Biked here all the way from Bothell just to check out this art studio for future classes or membership, and instead got scolded for “loitering” outside their business while reading their website for a minute. Super rude owner/staff also told me to go elsewhere and said this was a space for kid events which is untrue, it’s all ages.

Response from the owner · a month ago

We’re sorry this interaction was interpreted this way. At the time, we had a children’s program taking place inside the studio, and the safety of the kids in our care is always our first priority. When two individuals who were not participating in the program remained outside the studio, our staff approached and politely asked if they needed assistance. They indicated that they did not. We absolutely welcome people interested in learning more about our classes and memberships, and we offer programs for both kids and adults. At the same time, when children are in our care, our team will always be attentive to unfamiliar individuals lingering immediately outside the studio. For clarity, the owner was not present during this interaction. We’re sorry there was a misunderstanding and wish you the best.

We recently celebrated a birthday party at Redmond Art Works, and it was an awesome experience from start to finish! We had 24 kids participating in a porcelain painting activity, and everything was organized very well. They were flexible for allowing us to bring our own birthday backdrop/banner and add some light decorations, which helped make the celebration feel special and personalized. The three staff members were fantastic and actively helped the kids throughout the event, making sure everyone was engaged and having fun. The pace of the party was perfect, giving us enough time for the art activity, cake cutting, and enjoying pizza without feeling rushed. The kids had a great time expressing their creativity, and the staff made the entire experience smooth and stress-free for the parents. Overall, it was a wonderful birthday celebration, and I highly recommend Redmond Art Works for anyone looking for a fun and memorable party venue for kids. We had a great time and would definitely consider hosting another event there in the future!
