I would not recommend Richard Nick Kelley based on my personal experience as his client. I hired Mr. Kelley to represent me in a criminal case during an extremely difficult period of my life. My biggest concern is that I was referred to a pretrial diversion program without, in my opinion, receiving an adequate explanation beforehand of what the program actually required, what consequences it could have, or what other options were available to me. My emails from that time document my repeated confusion. After being told that diversion was my best option, I was asking his office basic questions about what I was supposed to do, what restrictions still applied to me, what would happen to my charges, and how the program could affect other important matters in my life. I specifically wrote that I did not understand what I was supposed to expect. When I finally met with the diversion program, I learned that I was required to complete 40 hours of community service and 27 class sessions and that the process could take approximately nine months. This was substantially different from what I understood from my conversations with my attorney. Even more concerning to me were the consequences of the agreement that had been negotiated. As part of the resolution with the State, the criminal case involving my then-husband was dismissed while my case was referred to diversion. I was going through a contentious divorce at the same time, so the consequences of that decision were extremely important to me. I expressed in writing that I had not understood that dismissing his case would be part of the arrangement and that I had not agreed to that outcome. What was especially frustrating was that I had hired an attorney to protect my interests and advise me about my choices and their consequences. Instead, I felt that an agreement had been reached without ensuring that I fully understood what I was giving up, what I was agreeing to do, how long the process could last, and how those decisions could affect other aspects of my situation. Had those consequences been clearly explained to me beforehand, I would not have agreed to proceed in the same way. When I confronted Mr. Kelley after learning the actual requirements of the diversion program and told him I was not satisfied with how my case had been handled, his response was that if I did not want to participate, he would ask the judge to put my case back on the docket, refund my money, and I could hire another attorney. That is exactly what I did. I hired another criminal defense attorney, withdrew from the diversion route, and chose to defend my case rather than complete a program whose terms and consequences I did not believe had been adequately explained to me. Ultimately, the State dismissed my criminal case without me having to complete the diversion program. That outcome made my previous experience even more frustrating. After changing attorneys and choosing to defend the case, the charges were ultimately dismissed. I therefore believe it was especially important that I should have been fully advised about my options and the consequences of diversion before such an important decision was made. I am sharing my experience because choosing a criminal defense attorney can have consequences far beyond the criminal case itself. A client should understand not only what an agreement is called, but exactly what it requires, what rights or options may be affected, what alternatives exist, and what consequences may follow. Based on my personal experience, I did not receive the level of explanation, communication, or legal guidance that I expected before decisions with significant consequences were made in my case. I would strongly encourage anyone considering representation to ask detailed questions and make sure every condition and consequence is fully explained before agreeing to a diversion program or any other resolution.

First God than Mr. Kelly. Mr. Kelly has been the most honorable attorney that I have meet in my life. He first helped me with my car accident case when I was 15 and now a very case sensitive case which he gave me THE BEST OUTCOME. It has been a tough year and a half for me, but I entrusted in him and knew that he would do his best work. I love the fact he is very black and white and straight to the point.
