Purchased a used Yamaha that River City basically rebuilt. Excellent service and the motor seems to be running great!
This guy is a thief and a liar. Bought a motor from him. He wanted all the money up front via some app. Went to his house to get motor, wasn't there. In the shop. Requested new water pump, impeller, gear lube change, and carbs rebuilt so I could have a maintenance interval check list. Stated price for all and signed it. Next, the motor was still on customers boat. The there was an "explosion" at the shop. Could not get fill in mechanics phone number. Then said work was done. Then it was the wrong part. Went to pick it up and requested update regarding what was supposed to be done. His brother said he was filling in and knew nothing about boats or boat motors and was just a car mechanic. Paid him the money for agreed upon service. Got it home and none of the work had been done. Each brother said the other had done it. Then I get a video of it running and in the video, the person starting it was off camera but clearly sitting down a can of starting fluid. Next, at just the right moment, a grainy still shot on what was a video surveillance camera shows a similar motor in the background and a guy sitting on a stool 5-6 away from the motor holding a lower unit with 2 fingers and no tools, parts, gearcase stand, fluid, or anything indicative of a repair. All bolts holding gearcase on hadn't been touched in years. Claimed a lawyer was representing him and upon calling them were shocked and knew nothing of him being represented. Gave me a fake address to serve him a demand letter. Refused to show old parts which is illegal so know I'm having to sue him plus I live 1.5 hours away. None of the bolts in the pictures show no tool mark, or marks, or the seam where both units meet undisturbed. Update, it's been a little over a month and Justin Ogden still refuses to take calls, texts, and emails. Last communication he gave me an address that was another fake address, deferred to "his attorney" in Gainesville, drove almost 2 hrs and they had no idea who he is for me to serve a formal letter of intent and they had no idea who he was.He's been dodging process servers and they've issued a bench warrant. They have a special place in hell for people like this guy.
This review really doesn’t make a lot of sense and I’m not even sure why this is still a thing. Kevin contacted me about a used Mercury 2 stroke I had for sale at $1500. He agreed to the price and requested the impeller and carbs cleaned. All the work was performed that he requested. Our shop has a full security system and I can watch the services being performed. Kevin was even sent a video of it running, shutting the engine off and starting it back up using only the key (no starting spray). We don’t use starting spray. After giving the engine to Kevin he immediately sends us a text threatening me and demanding I drive to his house and remove the motor from his truck and refund him. He claims the bolts look dirty so it’s not possible the work was performed and that I’m lying. I provided him the video , pictures of the lower unit off the engine and the parts documentation that was ordered for this motor. He still believes himself even with video proof it was removed. This man has cursed me, been extremely rude with my wife and insulted my children, some people you can’t satisfy and Kevin is one of them. Kevin is wrong and this review he left is 100% not true and it can be easily proven and still denies the facts. This is an attack on my reputation because he has buyers remorse or found an another motor he wishes he bought instead. We stand behind our work and our reputation. The services performed on this outboard included a water pump replacement and carburetor service as requested. We have documentation of the parts purchased, video evidence of the lower unit being removed during the repair, and multiple employees who personally performed and witnessed the work. The customer accepted delivery of the engine and transported it home before later demanding a full refund while claiming the work was never completed. Those claims are contradicted by the documentation and evidence in our possession. We take customer concerns seriously and are always willing to discuss legitimate issues, but we will not issue refunds based on false accusations or harassment. We remain committed to providing honest service and quality workmanship to every customer. Thank you to our customers who continue to support and trust our business.

I can't say enough good things about the crew at River City Marine. Justin and Jacob did an outstanding job diagnosing the problem with my engine! After 3 different establishments, and the dealership I purchased from failed to correctly identify the problem, and charged me to perform unnecessary work, I wasn't very happy. A trusted colleague of mine mentioned River City Marine after overhearing me venting, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Took her to Justin and a couple days later he called and had it pinpointed. I gave the okay, and the following week he was done and she was ready to go. I spent about a thousand at each of the other places and they couldn't locate the problem. It cost me about the same at River City Marine, but when I picked up it was fixed. Wish I had asked around first, I would have saved enough to haul her to Boca for tarpon, but live and learn. Five stars!!
