What a smooth project with Rockin J. Had the opportunity to meet with Jay and discuss the 3 bathroom remodel. Once we agreed on terms, Project Manager Jason was very polite and communicative. He stayed on top of the project and relayed any changes or updates. Defonte, Raul and Romiro were great to work with as well! We were able to finish the project ahead of schedule as well!

We recently completed a major renovation of our kitchen with Jay Gravitt and Rocking J Construction, and we could not be happier with the result! The transformation is incredible, and our experience working with Jay from beginning to end was outstanding.
First and foremost, Jay is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is incredibly friendly, accommodating, responsive, and just has a way of making you feel like you’re in good hands. Importantly, he’s an experienced contractor and knows his stuff. A renovation of this size involves close hands-on coordination and Jay seamlessly handled every detail. Whenever we had a question or concern, he addressed it immediately and always to our complete satisfaction. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.
Our project was a comprehensive upgrade of a high-end but dated kitchen. We elected not to gut the entire kitchen but to improve upon the existing footprint. Our old bi-level granite counters were removed and replaced with gorgeous, dramatic quartz counters that completely transformed both the appearance and functionality of the kitchen. We installed a built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator, panel-ready dishwasher, new induction cooktop, and a contemporary industrial-style faucet. The old tiled backsplash was replaced with a dramatic large-format, custom-cut porcelain slab behind the cooktop. This was no easy task, and to properly do the job Jay brought in a specialist stone fabricator with laser equipment to properly map the irregular edges of the space and then perfectly fit the stone in place. The quality of his workmanship was superb and you were never know that this wasn’t a built-in stone slab!
We elected to keep our existing cabinetry, but almost everything about it was upgraded. The drawer and cabinet mechanisms were converted to soft-close/soft-glide operation, all of the hardware was replaced, and the new fluted wood detailing on the island and peninsula added warmth and an amazing custom touch. To install the new Sub-Zero refrigerator we had to remove part of the cabinetry and rebuild it around the refrigerator. Jay's cabinet guy was remarkable, and he perfectly matched the intrinsic design of the existing cabinetry to the new section making the addition look seamless and natural.
The lighting is one of our favorite aspects of the renovation and a great example of how Jay helped us take our vision and turn it into reality. The old recessed can lights were replaced with bright, modern LED recessed lighting. The new vertical pendant lights, together with the tall faucet, newly expansive countertops and fluted siding on the island facade make for a truly dramatic entrance as you enter the space. We had a vision for how we wanted the kitchen to look and feel, and Jay understood it, worked with us to refine the details, and brought it all together beautifully.
Jay was very efficient with project time management. He started the renovation on the day he said he would and there were workers in the house nearly every day moving the project forward on schedule. Jay’s pricing was fair, transparent and competitive. He delivered everything he promised, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product.
Jay and Rocking J Construction were fabulous and earned two enthusiastic thumbs-up from us. If you’re looking for a contractor who combines exceptional workmanship, experience, integrity, and genuinely outstanding customer service, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone better. Thank you, Jay!

Hired Jays crew to rebuild an upstairs balcony that had water damage. The carpenters led by Martin tore right into it and had the demo finished in a couple of the hottest days of summer. They were open to my concerns about preventing future water damage and addressed each concern as it popped up. Jason the project manager was always available and was big on communication and he could tell I was pretty stressed so he made sure the project remained on schedule and that materials were on site and each crew had what they needed. The carpenters the brick layers the painters and electrical wee all professional and good at their craft . In the end I’m grateful they took the project on and completed on schedule and on budget. I would highly recommend the Rocking J Crew
